Another option to a crate is the soft sided ex-pen with cover:

Amazon.com: It'z A Breeze Too Soft Sided Exercise...
If you already have an ex-pen (sounds like you do), you might want to see if they sell a cover for it.

Just trying to give you more options. So sorry poor Jazzy went through that.
