The Parti Yorkshire Terrier Club is the only and first original club exclusively for the Parti colored Yorkshire Terrier. The CYTC is for all colors including chocolates and goldens is my understanding.

The ytca is a closed minded club! How many ytca members have off colored pups and we never hear about them? Do you not think there are breeders who cull certain pups and even whole litters? Do you not think this happens with members of the ytca? I believe every pup has a right to live rather standard colored or not.

The parti's are not affiliated with the ytca and all you have to do is read their site to see it is a fact. They are only a DQ and nothing more. The parti yorkie is an offspring of the yorkshire terrier breed. Rather the ytca wants to recognize them as so or not. To me the ytca has more important health issues to worry about like bad patellas, liver shunts and other life threatening health issues.

I still agree the ytca should not be linked with the biewer and parti yorkie.

No one says that these dogs should be killed. Culling simply means placing in a pet home and not breeding the dog. All breeders do this, including parti breeders; those are the dogs that make our pets.

Nancy1999 maybe you should read the meaning of culling on the aspca website! It does happen.

Culling: The killing of puppy mill puppies who, for various reasons, are considered unacceptable (twisted leg, coat or eye color not up to breed standard, misshaped ears, etc.).

It just does not happen in puppymills either!!!!!

Those are pretty serious allegations! I assume you have evidence to substantiate them?

I wonder what new DQ they will come up after they realize many parti breeders are planning to show their parti carriers. With more parti's being bred to quality yorkies...it's just a matter of time. :happyboun

I for one...can live with a Ch. sired parti. At least for now. :D

Maybe some of the YTCA breeders that admitted to dying coats can share their coat dying secrets for the few carriers that have just a smidge too much white on their chest. :yay_jump:

I was responding to Cirlonde's observation that biewers have a pattern to their markings and parti's don't. My reply was that most biewers have a gene that produces a predictable pattern, where as most partis have a genes that do not produce a predictable pattern.

There are going to be many parti's and biewers who have more than one type of spotting gene or parti's who have the irish spotting gene and biewers who have the extreme white piebald gene. .

Basically, there are spotting genes that produce predictable patterns and there are spotting genes that produce random spotting. :-)

I have a Biewer Terrier and I believe the Biewer Terrier Club of America and the Biewer Terrier Registry of America are both informative sites and should be mentioned. IMOP

Just catching up.......so what was the final decision?

If the YTCA "choose not to recognize" the Parti colored and other colored Yorkshire Terriers then why would they choose to want to be on a sticky that is indeed for that coloring?

Is there not already a sticky for people wanting to learn more about a Yorkshire Terrier and also about people looking for breeders of Yorkshire Terriers that put YTCA on them?

A word on "culling". If you do a google search you will see culling up close and personal. Yes it indeed does mean that the animals are killed or removed from breeding. I am sure most of us have seen the video where a Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder clearly explains about culling ridgeless pups. This was not an exception it was done many times over in the breeding world and not just the U.K. Do we have proof? Sure do.

If the sticky is to explain the difference between a parti colored Yorkie and a Biewer a la pom pom then let it be so. The orginal poster did not ask what the YTCAs standard for the parti colored yorkie or the Biewer a la pom pom.

To settle the issue the admin could simply put a sticky up that lists the YTCAs stance on the colored yorkies. That way the education is there if and when a person chooses to read it.

I do think it is great that Yorkie owners and breeders are so passionate about their furkids. That is what I think fuels this debate every time it comes up. The YTCA members and the colored parti breeder/owners may never see eye to eye on that one thing...COLOR. However, if you look deep down most have one big thing in common also...the love of this wonderful little dog.

Honestly though? I have no idea where to go from here -- I would still like to have something in The Library that explains the differences btwn Partis/Biewers (and not just linking people out though; links are great, but people are also looking for an answer right here and now). We can certainly include some links bc they're helpful for further education.

But, as far as what I'm supposed to take away from this thread, and then turn into the "Library" post...um, hmmmm....I'm not the person to ask :rolleyes:. I'd need some sort of consensus and reasonable compromise from the people on this thread as to what should be there...

This question is so frequent and we really *do* need something that people can read - something that is informational, not heated. So, I really hope people can help me understand what to do w/ this post. :)

Personally I don't think a sticky is going to stop these threads.

There are stickies on lots of topics and there are still threads about those topics, some of them very heated debates.

If we put up stickies to answer all of the questions, then this will be just another site, to come to, to play those silly games to run your post count up.

Yes..the YTCA links are all over this board. And not one "parti breeder" that I know of...has a problem with it...even thought the statements in that link that pertain to the parti and those that breed them...are slanderous at best.

IMO...if the "powers that be" includes that link in connection with a sticky that helps to teach newbies the differences between the two tri yorkies...it will be sending a message that all parti breeders are "unscrupulous" and not to be trusted. This is just not true. Our very own monitor can now attest to that fact!! ;)
