I guess we all go through this. I ended up letting Calleigh sleep with us when she was still 2.5 lbs. and only 12 weeks old because she used to drive me crazy and whine all night until I picked her up. I tried a hot water bottle, a clock in the crate with her, etc. etc. and the only thing that worked was letting her sleep with us. It worked!!!! Good nights and long sleeps began and no accidents on my bed.... ![]()

| When Samy was 3 months old he would wake up sooo early... 5:30-6am and would scratch on the door and cry a little until we get him in the room or tell him to cut it out. At 4 months he started waking up a bit later, around 7-7:30am but he was completely in the dark and if we did not open the door he would rip the pee pads into pieces. Now he is 5 months old and would sometimes sleep until 12pm on weekends. This Easter season I actually had to wake him up as it was 1pm and he was still sleeping heheheheh and then took him into bed and he slept until 3pm while we were watching tv. With age they sleep more and more which is really nice on weekends and holidays I know this because i take care of this 2 year old female yorkie and she sleeps a lot during the day and all through the night! In the mornings now when we get up to go to work - around 8am - we have to wake him up!!!

| Oh, I am so glad to hear that it does get better with time! I think I am going to switch from the xpen to the crate and take her out once in the middle of the night. We are working a lot on potty training. She's in her crate right now because she refuses to potty outside, she waits until we come in (literally, she'll go the second we walk in the door). So, if she doesn't potty outside, she spends time in her crate and we try again. It's heartbreaking to hear her cry, but the sooner she gets it, the sooner life will be better for us all. Thankfully she usually only goes once every 3-4 hours, so we don't have to go through this much.. so far, only once a day as she usually goes! She's just over 5 pounds, so does she need to eat overnight? She hasn't been touching the food I've left in her xpen. She is fed 4 times a day, once right before bedtime, that should get her through till morning at her size, right?

| I took the xpen back today. The crate works MUCH better, she loves it in there! I covered 3 sides and left the side facing me uncovered. She did cry when I put her back in it after our late night pee break, but she settled quick - AND - I got to sleep until 8:30, and I woke HER up. It's a much better fit for us, and easier to move around the house. If only potty training could be as easy as that, lol. Was nice to save the $90 on the crate and $26 for the stuff we put underneath it (think it was called wainscotting). My Visa is happier, lol. Thanks so much for everyone's advice! I feel so stupid when it comes to puppies, so I'll likely have more questions in the months to come. Nice to know I can come and learn from those with so much more experience than I have.

| Our baby Miley has always had the option to sleep in our bed or crate bed. In the beginning we put her in her bed with the door open. She has spent many nights in there but in the last 3 months she has always chose to get in bed with us. I love it when she curls up right next to me. Never had 1 potty accident in the bed or the crate. Somehow they just know that going potty in the bed is a No No. Sleeping with your pup is just priceless. |

I agree with the other posts here about removing the water or curtailing their water intake as bed time approaches. This will enable them to hold their bladder longer and make it through the night without having to wake you up. Kathleen ![]() ![]()

| Nope, not in my world, it's 7-8am, I guess I've gained an hour since she was a puppy. Shayna's 16 months and it used to be 2am and 6am but we have alot less 2am's and with the time change I get to sleep till 7am. I wish she'd sleep later. |
