Well, I hate to break the news to ya...but 100% of the yorkies in rescue were irresponsibly bred too, and cost about the same as this puppy! What makes them more disserving of a home with the OP? Their color?

You really read a lot into what I say, what the dog looks like has nothing to do with my feelings about the breeder. The difference between going to a REPUTABLE rescue, is that the dog will have a vet check, has been spayed, and has puppy shots. You will have a realistic idea of future financial obligations. They test for LP and liver shunt, and do dentals. The unfortunate thing about an inexpensive puppy is that they appeal sometimes to people on a budget; they think if they can absorb the cost of the dog they are home free. There were too many red flags in this situation; it had nothing to do with the fact that the dog is a parti. The breeder claims to have never had the puppy for a vet check. What breeder would do that? What pet owner would do that? Whether she bred the dog herself, or bartered it or whatever, at 7 months old she claims she has never taken the dog to the vet and has no information on shots, and wants to sell the dog "as is." Now maybe you see these things as perfectly normal, but I think it's a huge red flag. As long as the buyer is aware that this dog probably has some illness that is costly, and that's why the breeder is claiming she's never gone to the vet, she can do whatever she thinks is best, and I will fully support her in her decision, but the decision should be based on logical information, if she wants to protect her finances. She has a responsibility to her other dogs to not go too far on a financial limb. Obviously, I know nothing of the OP's finances, I've just read of these things happening to other people before. To the OP, best of luck with your decision!

Just for the record...that certainly isn't how applicants are screened with YTNR. If we waited for only retired, self-employed, stay at home housewives to adopt our Yorkies we'd be knee deep in you know what!

Applicants are matched up to the available dog according to the dogs needs. A sturdy good-sized Yorkie could easily be placed with the right family with children.

Applicants who work for a living...also approved. We like our adoptive families to be gainfully employed or have the means to provide for our dogs when & if the Vet bills come.

Applicants who are experienced Yorkie (or other breed) owners is a good indicator of a someone who has done their homework on the breed and already knows what to expect. Not to mention the obvious...Yorkies generally love their own kind.

I think the point that keeps getting missed is that nobody is saying this dog is less deserving until it reaches a rescue group...not at all! The point is...it has all the red flags of a puppy mill, or disreputable breeder as you could possibly need to have staring you in the face...that's why some are saying go the opposite direction from this puppy!

your already inlove with that dog go get her. you could pay twice that to get a pup from a breeder and have hundreds of dollars in vet bills dont let anyone sway you from what you feel is right but i would have her vet checked before i brought her to your other dogs

Everyone when searching for that addition to their family should put at the forefront the pets that are already in the home. With this one, additional expenses are going to be undertaken.....no shots, no vet exams, that is additional beyond the usual spay/nueter, puppy teeth extractions.

On one side of the coin when looking for that new pup to join your home you search out reputable/responsible breeders. On the other side of the coin, we must be responsible pet owners.

I myself stand guilty as one who used my heart vs my brain when getting my first Yorkie and now have the rest of Bella's future to pay for "my" mistake, too.

If only people could just disconnect those heartstrings from making such a decision. Learn from countless others misinformed decisions...don't repeat them. Perhaps if the OP can tune out...Go, get that puppy...Follow your heart...etc, she will be saved from making a poor decision in selecting an addition to her already canine family.

If the Op or any other good pet home goes the opposite direction just because the dog was bred by someone who obviously should not be breeding dogs...this puppy will end up in the wrong hands and the cycle will continue.

If the seller were a puppymill or a disreputable breeder...trust me...she wouldn't be for sale for $500. She is 8 months old. She would soon be pregnant...not for sale.

This sounds like someone who got this puppy for the wrong reasons and is wanting her gone and priced her cheaply to get it done.

And I might add that the very reason there ARE rescues is because of the irresponsible breeders who place pups willy nilly to the first person who happens along with a buck.

Thank God at least "I" can say that when "I" place a pup it IS to a home that will keep it and love it. I may not be able to stop the living hell for all pups, but I sure as hell can stop it for the ones that cross my path.

I make NO excuses for being tough to get a pup from.

Dogs that have been through a rough beginning often don't have many chances left. It's imperative their new adoptive home be their last home.....one in which they are loved, cherished, and provided for in the most stable of homes.

Thank you, Jen and I feel the same about you! I know how much time you spend helping the homeless pups.

I pray for them all.....that one day all of them will go to the right homes from the start....and there not have to be any rescues. I guess that is idealistic, but one can dream. What I see day in and day out breaks my heart.

Please show me some of these factual threads where people would not warn others about buying a yorkie under such conditions.

Certainly there are always people telling others to save the pup no matter what, but I have seen people be warned about the dangers of this type of purchase time and time again.

Just want to see your facts. Then, maybe I will understand how you feel that people are singling out Partis.

It may be idealistic and a dream...but remember, some absolutely amazing things have happened when someone dared to, dream a day when......

I never said that people here would not warn others about buying from a bad situation. As many do on a daily basis. And there is certainly nothing wrong with that.

If this was a traditional yorkie...and I have seen it time and time again on these boards..most if not all posters would be yelling for the OP to save that baby. FACT!

I have seen it time and time again..no matter who was the breeder...the people here...more so the pet population do not care who bred the dog. Their only concern is getting the baby safe and in a pet home. And that is how it should be.

To the OP...good luck with your decision with this or any puppy you bring home to your family.
