| ![]() Obviously you haven't been reading like everyone with any experience has told you to do or you would know that you shouldn't be taking a 6 wk old puppy out for walks!!! He will not have all of his shots and therefore susceptible to disease!!! One reason daycares will not accept him!!! ![]() Please look up STRESS, COCCIDIA, PARVO and GARIDA!!! Your "dogsitter" could be the one that brings sickness into your home - per her feet!!! A dog sitter might be fine for an older dog but NOT a 6 wk old puppy!!! And if you don't like the responses you're getting maybe you should consider doing some RESEARCH! This is a public forum and if you ask a question or make a comment - PEOPLE WILL RESPOND and you might not like what you hear. People have stayed on topic - you're just not wanting to LISTEN!

| ![]() So I should just go to..YTCA.org and find a breeder in the area? Do you think it would cost alot of money?? I also have a vet right near my house I am going to stop by after work today to talk to them and see what they think. If non of these work I will do the 12.00 an hour thing with her coming a few times and me coming home on lunch. I am still waiting on hearing back from that one person that knowes someone in Tampa that will come to my house?? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() The reasons many breeders like to sell them before 12 weeks is they are so much work before that. A puppy can go down hill so quickly, and if you are not experienced and know what to do, you could lose it. Having someone visit isn't the same as someone looking in on the puppies constantly. Once a puppy is 12 weeks, things aren't quite as critical, and then you could leave your dog for longer periods, but yorkies are such a poor breed choice for this, they love being with humans. I agree with the others, you won't find a place that will take him before he's had all his puppy shots, and thats around 14 weeks. Finding someone who is experienced with dogs and would allow the puppy to stay at her home all day seems like a safe option, but you would have to be careful if she has children. Puppies shouldn't be handled or played with too much, because this can cause a drop in blood sugar.

| ![]() Once my fiancee comes back from deployment...(in 3 months) that baby will have our full attention and someone will always be there to play with him and take care of him. There would only be a few hours during M-F that he would have to stay in his play pen. |

| ![]() $12 a visit is a good deal, our sitters charge around $20 in our area.

![]() ![]() ![]() I still believe the best "Option" would be what everyone has been telling you from the beginning--do your research first and don't this, 6 week old dog. The message I'm hearing here is, "I'm going to ignore everything you all have told me and do what I want anyway, so deal with it and help me out anyway." Ha. I agree with cj--public forum, hot topic = if you don't want comments, don't post. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 03-12-2010 at 09:03 AM. | |

| ![]() Just to add, the problem is not that your dog will be alone for so long during the day, and it's not that places aren't willing to take him. If you want to fix the situation, then look at what the real problem is--the fact that you are getting a 6 week old dog to begin with. There are no "best options" in that siutation. The "best option" is the one you continue to ignore. Perhaps waiting until your school schedule allows more time with a dog would be a good idea. |

There are so many types of pet services out there, the thing is finding them, either through your vet or other breeders. I know that there is a Surregate Mother Service. A service offered to breeders that have lost their mom. They can take the new born pup(s) to a mother that has had a small litter or has just lost her litter. She nurses them until they are able to be weaned. Great service, really makes sure the pups get proper mother's nutrition and it sure saves the breeder from those round the clock feedings.

I hope that if you have a sitter come in, you make sure that they wash their hands, really well, and wipe there shoes, I would even suggest an apron or something, if they are going from dog sit to dog sit... I hope you can find a breeder in your area to help you, I think the international border puts me to far to help. I wish you the best! Please be prepared for the worst.

| ![]() I would much rather have someone come into my home to take care of my pets bc the dogs are more comfortable in their own home and less likely to pick up diseases from other dogs. Also your dog will be less stressed out.

| ![]() I think regardless of where you live, $12 is very inexpensive for a petsitter visit for someone to drive to your home, feed/water/play with your pets for 30-45 minutes and to provide peace of mind. The cost of veterinary care will greatly exceed these costs if the dog gets sick due to all the various issues raised by other posters. Good luck.

| ![]() The breeder does not have the time or money to take care of this little one. She has 2 kids that are very young around this little boy. I dont have kids...my fiancee alone makes alone 6 figures and so we def have the money to take care of him fully..unlike her. If you have anything else negative to say about me getting this pup I will put you on my block list so I dont have to hear you anymore. You dont know the situation so just hush your mouth. You continue repeating yourself and nothing is going to change so stop wasting your time and just go away. I am here for advice FOR THE PUP!!! Not to hear you when you dont even know the situation. Thank you to the people that are giving me good advice...much appreciate it ![]() |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I think it is great you gave YT another chance. You are on the right track. If you were in CA near me I would watch your little one for free! I hope it all works out well and your fur baby becomes as important to you as mine are to me ![]()
