The reasons many breeders like to sell them before 12 weeks is they are so much work before that. A puppy can go down hill so quickly, and if you are not experienced and know what to do, you could lose it. Having someone visit isn't the same as someone looking in on the puppies constantly. Once a puppy is 12 weeks, things aren't quite as critical, and then you could leave your dog for longer periods, but yorkies are such a poor breed choice for this, they love being with humans. I agree with the others, you won't find a place that will take him before he's had all his puppy shots, and thats around 14 weeks. Finding someone who is experienced with dogs and would allow the puppy to stay at her home all day seems like a safe option, but you would have to be careful if she has children. Puppies shouldn't be handled or played with too much, because this can cause a drop in blood sugar. |
