| ![]() Until this pup has all it's rounds of vaccinations (ending around 16 weeks), it is not safe to be anywhere that other dogs are. My vet even has people bring pups in a carrier, or hold them when they come in.... they can't put their feet on the ground. Groomers won't touch them until they have all shots, nor will doggy daycares. I personally wouldn't even consider leaving a young pup at the vets, just because of all the sickness it could be exposed to. The young age is going to continue to present challenges in every area. By the way, the little blue pen/condo thing you got is cute, but be really careful that the little pup doesn't get a toenail caught in the mesh. One of my pups had that happen in a playpen and could have ripped the toenail out and bled to death if I hadn't rescued her quickly. Good luck with it all.

This puppy will be at a very high risk of getting deadly puppy diseases like parvo. Since parvo can live on surfaces for months and can be carried in on shoes, a pet sitter can easily bring it into your house. Parvovirus: Serious Diarrhea in Puppies & Dogs But again, I doubt you will actually be getting this puppy at six weeks since it is illegal to sell and transport a puppy by air before eight weeks old. Has this breeder tried to find a vet yet who will falsify the health certificate?

Futhermore, for what it's worth, how many "figures" your fiancee makes is irrelevant to the amount of care you are willing and able to provide a dog. There are many members here, the majority I'd dare say, that don't make that amount of money and that in no way makes the love and care they give their dogs second rate. So I'm not really sure what you were trying to insinuate there, but money is not he solution to everything... Last edited by BamaFan121s; 03-12-2010 at 11:00 AM.

| ![]() Mary you know that we don't make 6 figures and that's exactly what I did. My Max was 13 wks old, fully socialized, eating properly and came from a great breeder.

| ![]() If you go to the Yorkie Health area - then to the Vaccines - there's a thread that tells you most of what you need to know. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-overview.html

I don't care if you read my posts or not. But, there are other newbies that will become YT members that are willing to learn from your errors. Your tempermament/personality is very indicative of young people today.....they appear to know everything, balk at experience, but are the first to go running for help should things get out of hand. BY THE WAY YOU"VE STATED YOUR PUP JUST RECEIVED IT"S FIRST SET OF SHOTS AT 6 WEEKS....BIG MISTAKE...GREATER CHANCE OF CONTRACTING PARVO NOW.

He shouldn't have gotten any shots yet. He's too young. They are only 25% effective in a six week old puppy. You will have to start over from scratch when he is 9 weeks old. This is a good schedule to follow: W Jean Dodds Vaccine Protocol VACCINATION PROTOCOLS
