I think the rabies is waved to 4 months of age. I don't know since I don't ship and when I've flown with mine to shows they have always been 6 months or older and have received their rabies vaccines, been examined by a vet 24 hours before flying and been issued Health Certificates stating they were in good health and able to travel.

It is situations like this that just make my head spin. It is just so over the top that it seems unbelievable.

To the OPer, I surely hope that you have a nice nest egg put away for vet care. With a puppy being this tiny and so very young, away from its deceased mother, no litter mates, flying on an airplane, being left alone with only 1 visit from a friend daily, and the list goes on~there is a very high likelihood that very expensive care will be needed.

I am not sure what type of income that you have but please make sure that you have funds together for ER visits and possibly other medical issues.

Is the breeder that is flying in the plane with this puppy going to take any additional financial responsibility if there are health issues from his leaving her care at such a very young age? Regardless if the mother died, when you breed you are responsible for the care of the puppies that you allowed to be brought into this world. In the very least you should consider this thought/idea. Your cute tiny immature puppy could in the end cost you a great deal of money that you might not be aware that you are facing~thousands of dollars in expenses could be in your very near future.

If that was for me..... My puppies are not left for more than an hour or so at a time. I work 2 days a week and my husband if off for the winter so he is home with them when I'm gone. I was only trying to think of things to help if in fact the puppy was going to be in this home.

I see your point and completely agree. I truly do hope the OP will stay on YT and access all the knowledge and experience available here. I've said all I can think of to get through to her and obviously it isn't working but I just had to try. I would not be able to live with myself if something happens to this pup and I didn't do my part to try to help.

Good advice. There's another member on here that bought her puppy from a fairly local breeder. The pup was 8 weeks of age and tiny. She's already spend thousands. Coccidia, hyperglycemia, mange......orthepedic care......you name it.

megansmomma has brought up a good point. NatNatt you should ask if your breeder is going to give you a one year health guarantee. This would be wise on your part. It can get very expensive if health issues arise.

I guess there are some breeders that do.

I'm so wrought with cabin fever.....I don't leave the house for about 2 weeks before they are whelped until they are 12 weeks of age.

I tried to tell the OP this in her other thread over and over again, but she chose not to listen.

This puppy is being flown from Missouri to Florida. In both states it is illegal to sell a puppy under 8 weeks old. It is also against federal law (US Department of Agriculture) to transport a puppy by air if it is under 8 weeks old.

I doubt a Missouri vet will issue the required health certificate for this puppy and risk losing his license. Even if the breeder brings the puppy to the airport, I think it's unlikely she will be able to actually get him on the flight. Airline security is so tight, mothers with infants can't even take formula on board!

What is also shocking is that the OP is engaged to a military man, yet is conspiring with this breeder to break both federal and state law.

Part of me hopes that they try to get this puppy on the plane and get in big trouble. Attempting to violate federal rules regarding airline travel is very serious business in this day and age.

So...I just read the OP's other post on here about how she hopes that the baby doesn't go over 5lbs!! I'm just really beside myself right now thinking about this poor puppy coming into that kind of environment! Not only will the puppy not be fully taken care of at such a young age-with being alone...but now the OP is saying they don't want the yorkie to be over 5lbs fully grown...does that mean you're not going to love ur puppy if it becomes "too big". I just can't even digest all of this.....

I completely agree! the fact is that the pup is going to her home! as opoposed to discussing the "laws" and antagonizing the poster, provide support! This pup is in dire straights and the breeder may be should not breeed, but this dog is going to this individuals home, so those who know what to do should help provide advice becasue of we ALL read what the poster has written, the pup is coming home. I must admit that I am not happy at how this transaction occured, but as a yorkie lover I would like for those of us who know what to do with a 6 month pup can provide pragmatic and concrete advise ( i.e., dogg milk, feeding, weaning, socialization)

I really think the best advice we can give her is to cancel the sale. Sorry, but if we don't speak up, I feel like we are condoning the possible death of this dog. I'm really worried about the flight.

As the say two wrongs don't make a right.

The pup is coming from the OP says are deplorable conditions, at 6 weeks to home where it will not be receiving 24 hour care......At the very least the pup shouldn't travel for at least another 3 weeks and then in cabin.

To the original poster, I suggest that you obtain some day care for this pup, preferably from someone that is versed in the care of such a wee one.

I don't believe we should ever buy a dog that we know is living in deplorable conditions, the dog will be replaced with two more who have to live in deplorable conditions. The place should be reported. I hope the OP will tell us who she's buying the dog from, and becomes an active advocate to promote responsible breeding. From the pictures she posted, it's clear that she wants to provide a wonderful home for a puppy, and I hope she can really take a step back, and try to listen to what we are saying.

I have to agree 100%. I have had Paris for 2 years now..i researched the hell out of the breed even though i grew up with one but when i kids were small i knew that was not the right time and my kids are now 20, 17, 14 so i decided 2 years ago was a good time because someone would always be home for Paris. 1 Night we had 1 mishap that could have cost my babies life and it was my daughter thought i feed her for the nite and visa versa, well that morning Paris was limp and darn near lifeless, (hypoglycemic) i knew what the problem was and went into action because i had all the necessary things. Therefore it took sole responsibility for feeding her so not to have this happen again. And while i do work but i took the first week off to be with her and im not gone for 9 hours a day. But god forbid i was not home i cant imagine how terrible the outcome would be. Why get a puppy and not be able to spend more quality time with it.
