It is one thing for a young child to have done this but a 23 year old? Nah, I don't think so. Roscoe is a cutie pie and yes he has had a hard life, a little bit of love and understanding is warranted here and I am sorry that your room mate just doesn't get it.

Okay, I am just surprised. Most rescue organizations I know about would never place a rescue into this type of situation and living conditions for this very reason. They usually want older people who old their own homes and do not have renters...it is a problem just waiting to happen..

Well the s**tzu owner & her daughter have been increasingly hostile to me over Rocco's issues. I have shown her how to deal with this without kicking Rocco out of the way or grabbing him anywhere except the nape of his neck.
Yesterday a scuffle broke out in the back yard and I was at the the kitchen window....What I saw was Rmmates daughter ( 23 yrs) grab Rocco by his hair on his back which in turn the dog snapped at her in self defense because she hurt him by pulling his hair and then she threw him at least 4 ft into a metal dog crate that I had on the deck where this happened. He yelped and was limping.
I flew outside in a new york min all over her about "throwing & abusing my dog" her unacceptable behavior and what went down was a scream fest on her part about how Rocco was a piece of s**t, vicious and bit her and on and on. I told her if she yanked my hair like that I would have bit her too! All the excuses well the dog did this and this....Abuse is never ok. that is like the husband who beats his wife but says he does it because she deserved it. I told her she was not welcome on the property ever again had a discussion with my rmmate about her & her daughter and said she could hit the road if she can't deal with this because I won't allow her to touch my dog EVER!
I have talked to her repeatdly on how to work with this situation in the proper manner so the dogs are diciplined but in a healthy manner. How would they feel if I threw their dog (not that I ever would EVER) but she would have had me arrested if I hurt her dog like that.
Rocco was ok but was he Shook Up. It is my job and responsibility as his foster mom to protect him, work with his character defects and keep him safe until he gets re-homed. If this dog is vicious I am the president of the US I think their attitude toward him is encouraging his dislike of them and their dog....
God help either one of them if they EVER touch Rocco again I will be on the 11:00 news in an orange jumpsuit for aggravated assault.
Any thoughts I would love to hear them........

You should have called the police the second you saw this. forget arguing with her. And if I were you I would still call them!

I am sorry to say this, this whole thing is so avoidable and awful, but why would you allow him to be in such an environment? Who owns the home. or on the lease? I would evict this woman, and get a restraining order against the daughter.

If the roommate cannot be kicked out then I would either move, or take the dog back to the rescue. This is a bad situation for this little dog.

I am sure you want the best for him..

First let me say I admire what you doing for Rocco, it takes a very special person to open their heart and home to a rescue dog.

I have to say I agree with the other posters, if the roomate does not leave you need to make arrangements for Rocco to go to another Foster Home.

I am sorry you had to witness someone being so cruel to Rocco but as other have stated, he deserves the best. If there is a chance of that girl abusing him again you need to remove him from the risk.

I agree here too. This dog needs to feel safe and be safe and as long as that woman is living with you it can't be. You can NEVER take your gaurd down. That poor dog will live in constant fear and being a rescue i am sure it has had enough fear. Sorry to say you either need to rehome your dog or ask your roomate to move out.

2. You need to find the dog another home if you plan to live with that roommate.
3. I would have taken her and thrown her 4 ft.

I agree, I would go and make a report. All you have to do is go to a station and say your side of the story. They might be able to advise you better. Good Luck!

I agree on all three points here! BTW, I don't know what happened to the OP, but hopefully she's still following her own thread and taking the advice given here. I really want to know who owns the home or what the lease agreement is? If this roommate is not on the lease and she is just doing this woman a favor, then the woman absolutely needs to go, no question about it. I'm also wondering if the woman agreed to the rescue, and if she did and their pups don't get along and both women know it, why are the pups playing around each other? Surely there is a way that the dogs can be separated from each other, this is ridiculous!

I don't think the dog is safe in the home. I really don't know if any dogs are safe around those ladies. If they think it is okay to treat one dog like that chances are they treat all dogs badly. Who knows what they do when you aren't around watching in a window. Your very lucky you caught her and know her true colors. But please keep those babies safe either by the woman leaving the home or the dogs finding new fosters. I admire you for what you do taking rescues in. They are special babies that deserve some love and peace finally after being in bad situations especially if they are older dogs.
