You're actually doing a lot better than many of us when we started. A lot of people find out about puppy mills after they've gotten their dog and come here.

Cockers are not dumb! My Hanna is VERY smart, and every cocker I have owned have never been "so dumb" either. I just find that comment insulting. I do not believe any breed is dumb, or any dog for that matter.

I also own cockapoos and cockapoos are not smarter than a cocker or a poodle, they are nothing like either breed actually.

There are rarely any little dogs in rescue or in shelters. 90% are big dogs, or dogs with serious issues and some people don't want big dogs, or have to deal with issues a rescue brings (especially little dogs).

Also, some people just don't want to deal with rescues, most get into parts of our life that are none of their business. It is easier to adopt a child then a dog..and i have done both

So people decide to go through a breeder. If she went to the pet store she could find what she is looking for, so I see no reason not to help her find a good breed who just happens to breed a mix. and lots of hobby breeders breed only one kind of mix.

Stop hating on the mixes. It is going to continue because people want them and I personally see nothing wrong with it (some mixes)..

I also want to add that I personally would never breed a yorkie with anything other than another yorkie just because they are wonderful and perfect as they are

Someone may have beat me to this already, but Yorkies are already hypoallergenic since they have "hair" and no undercoat they do not shed.

Actually is does work on most poodle mixes, especially if the dogs being crossed is a non or low shedding breed. I breed cockapoos, 2nd and 3rd generation and they do not shed at all, ever!

The only ones I have seen shed are the smooth coats but it isn't usually very much. Cocker spaniels barely shed as well.. My cocker doesn't shed, and neither did any of the other cockers I have owned.

Do you know any yorkiepoo breeders? Just because they breed a mix doesn't mean they are not responsible breeders.

I just wonder if you realize how you might come across with your discouraging words about rescue? There are people reading this thread who are considering adopting from a rescue and your negativity is very disturbing. I have adopted from a yorkie rescue group and they were in no way intrusive in my personal life, nor did they ask inappropriate questions as you are suggesting. I now volunteer and foster for another yorkie rescue group and while we may have many questions, they all pertain to the well being of the pups and are very important in ensuring proper placement and a happy, healthy environment. I'm not saying adoptiing from a rescue is for everyone, but please don't give others the idea that it's a bad experience - because it isn't. These little guys in rescue are wonderful, adorable, loveable babies that deserve a good home.

I do, in fact I know of several and one of the very worst has been discussed on this forum, Halpain's But, I don't think you need to know them to know they are not responsible breeders, only people looking to profit of of innocent dogs.

The question is why would a good breeder, breed Yorkie-Poos?

I have a Yorkie-Poo who I love dearly, but we adopted her from a family who didn't want her and they weren't treating her properly, IMO.

Yorkies & Poodles are both hypo-allergenic dogs, so why mix them? If you have a good representation of each breed, AKC registered and within the breed standard, you wouldn't mix them, JMO.

I actually do understand Labradoodles for people who want large dogs, but need hypo-allergenic dogs. I could be mistaken, but I don't think there are very many options for large breeds that are hypo-allergenic.

IMO, anyone that gets a dog should have to go through the same "rescue type" questioning whether you're adopting from a rescue, shelter or purchasing a pup through a reputable breeder. If there were an application process for obtaining a dog, the numbers in shelters/rescues would be reduced greatly, of that I'm certain.
