| My Dog was attacked by a JRT and a Pug Fortunately, it was the 125 pound Mastiff. We were out walking about 1 hour ago when I sea lady and 2 dogs ( a JRT and Pug) coming towards us. I move to the other side of the street, and the lady's JRT breaks free and charges us. My guy just stood there in wonderment as the little dog was attacking and retreating, trying to bite my guy. Then the lady runs across the the street to get her dog, when her other dog is pulling to my guy showing his teeth and barking. She finally got her "pack" together and left, all the while my dog just sat there wagging his 5" Tail. Goes to show, even small dogs can be a real problem. It is good that my dog obeys and have been thru Distraction class and is just a easy going monster. |

| I love Mastiffs. my Yorkie Sophie Kate goes to Daycare 2 days a week where the owner has a Bull Mastiff named Apollo. Poor sweet Apollo has a problem with his hips and doesn't move much, well Sophie Kate has become his best friend and caretaker. She will sit on the couch behind him and snarls at any dog that comes near him, throwing in an kiss for old Apollo every once in awhile. The Daycare owner is very careful with the size difference, if Apollo happens to get up (which isn't often), she will make sure Sophie Kate is up and in her arms so she does not get stepped on by accident.

| Our female Yorkie was 2 years old when we brought Carlo, the Cane Corso home. My wife was not for it right off, but I convinced her that Maxine needs a body guard! It Cost me Jewerly, Watches and Fur, but it was worth it. They have been best friends. He has never stepped on her, or rolled on her...while she has bitten him many times. I am very thankful that he is so good to her. He chased away a Coyote on more than one occasion, and is always on guard when she is out. She does not go out alone. When they are done and come in, he waits for her to hop up the step and go inside first. Then I go, and then he comes in. I do not wanting him to think that he is above me. While he is gentle with her, I would not want him mad at me. The Cane Corso is not for everyone....and I am afraid that BYB's are already starting to ruin the breed. On the East Coast, they are known as the Pitbull Killers. |

| Sounds like you have a well-behaved dog on your hands! I love the big, muscular dogs myself but it's not always conducive to apartment dwelling. Did the lady apologize on behalf of her dogs?

| Yes, she apologized. I am just glad her dogs we small, because if they were large, we would have had a real problem. My guy does not back down from big dogs. Amzaing how he differentiates threats. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi, I had a simular thing happen yesterday when I was walking my little one. My neighbor opened her door to let their (simular to lab only long hair) out. I picked up my little one, crossed st to find dog chasing me and jumping on me to grab my dog. Just like it was a toy he wanted. She is still standing on entry with leash calling him. She finally yelled sorry. My poor little one has pancreatitis and anxiety is supposed to bring it on.. What would you do or say to her if anything.... I am so mad at her not the poor dog. But I want to know what you said your dog was trained at so that he just sat there. That is amazing to me. I have never seen a dog do that. I only walk my dog once a day for 20 minutes for her health. This is the worst I have experienced. But I am here to tell you the times a big dog has been allowed to run up and jump around and bark at this little one so that now she yaps and barks terrible at the sight of any dog. All the hard work I do is then lost again each time this happens... It must be a delima in every way and everywhere.... Don;t know answer until owners take responsibility for their lazy ways or whatever it is they lack doing for their pet. Jessie AND Poohbear |

She is wonderful with our little babies... But we are always careful since she weighs 130 pounds and still acts like a puppy and lap dog!

Senior Yorkie Talker | What is distraction class? Please tell me what a distraction class is or any class to help my little one to learn not all dogs are going to attack her. I keep hoping but then she has things happen. She is never unleashed and always on sidewalks. Never any strange place. I don't even do the park. Thanks Jessie |

| After your dog is socialized and Ovedience trained, distraction class is simply a class to assist in the dog learning not to be distracted by other dogs, people, and events. Just a group of dogs, all sizes and breeds, the owners, and trainer in a room, or out doors. All dogs will be given various commands to stay, place, etc. Also, walking in a circle, and your dog is placed in the middle of the circle. He should stay in place, and not get up....if he does, he is corrected. Each week, the various exercises increase, and intensify. It shows your dog that no harm will come to him, and to be obedient to your commands. I can place my Corso is a SIT or down, and have other dogs walk up and sniff him without him moving. Part obedience, part fun, but great to keep them calm and to show that not everything is a threat. We tried it with the Yorkie, but she is just too "spirited" for it. We have socialized her to high heaven, praised, corrected, but she will revert back to being a Bully/Princess. Besides, if she attacks, no harm will come to another dog or person, but we make sure not to put her in a bad situation. If a large breed guardian does, there will be legal issues and the police. |

You are correct, he would love to be a lap dog. He is super smart, but also he will sometimes test you. You can almost hear his mind working. In the wrong hands, yes, very aggressive and dominant. The Yorkie is the Alpha dog. Amazing. Amazing also on how gentle they can be. Mine is great with the elderly, as he knows not to get close, or to push into them. Same with kids and females. I believe I am the only one he will play rough with, but one time a friend was over and playfully slapped me on the back.... Good thing Carlo is trained to obey as he did not have his friendly face on. | |
