| Petland lies I need to vent. I posted a thread earlier regarding my situation with petaled and two littermate yorkies that I purchased. Both ended up being very sick and one died little more than 2 weeks later (RIP Bentley my love, you touched us a brief period but remain in our heart forever) petland is refusing to to obey by their contact and not reimbursing us for any of our medical bills even though we went to the vet they told us to! I have to share their response from BBB where we have been trying to fight this; "Petland does care for its customers and has gone to great lengths to assure and ensure that the best possible solution happened for this customer. Per the warranty, congenital and hereditary issues are covered up to the purchase price of the puppy. This puppy did not pass away from anything congenital/hereditary... This puppy was not given consistent care with the same vet but in fact saw three separate vets w/i one week and this customer NEVER used the Petland vet or contacted the appropriate places until the process of treating the puppy was well underway. As soon as the customer contacted the Claims department and submitted an invoice a ck was sent to cover medical expenses. the customer was not satisfied. All things considered Petland met their obligations to the customer but still went a step further and offered a replacement puppy OR a refund on the purchase price of the puppy(offer documented in writing) This was rejected. It is unfortunate what occurred with the customers pet. Petland is sincerely sorry for their loss....Petland is under no further obligation to assist any further. They have done all that is required and then more. Should the customer wish to accept the offer it is still valid but Petland will not offer anything more." I am so outraged! I contacted an animal attorney here in florida but it is very expensive. Does anyone know of a place I could get help for attorney fees from? They are lying! (you can read my story in my other thread)

I hope your doing ok and so is the other pup I did read your other post when you posted sorry that he died. I'm confused about this post did petland send this to you the in quotes part? did they send you a check for the expenses? did they offer another pup (not that makes up for the loss) but if they did all the above iam confused. Or did they say they would do that and did none of the above please clarify. and again so sorry my heart goes out to you and bently rip little guy |

| Have you tried to contact your Attorney General, maybe a State Representative? I would go to my local courthouse and see who I needed to talk to about the situation.

| I assume you have quoted what PetLand has stated? Do you know the cause of death for Bentley? It appears Petland is stating, it was not congenital or hereditary.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I'm so sorry you're going through this. It was horrible to lose your puppy, but for Petland to do this, is like pouring salt in your wounds. Here in OK, we do have Legal Aide that will assist with legal matters for those that can not pay. IDK, if something like this organization is in your area, or if they would be willing to take on a pet store, but you can always try.

| We went to the vet petland told us would be covered. he did cover the first visit but not the over 1000 in hospitalization bills. petland offered us 1600 to cover the purchase price of the puppies but not the vet bills as they are required by law. they mailed us a check for 160 to cover some of the meds from the first two vets. I havent cashed anything, as we are entitled to more. The only reason we went to their horrible vet was so everything would be covered and it wasn't. I hate to think if we went elsewhere, maybe our puppy would still be with us. His brother is doing well for now and we are hoping for a full recovery, past two fecal exams showed no more parasites. They are basically blaming us for the death of the puppy which is absolutely outrageous. He was diagnosed within 4 days of purchase (per their contract and state law) with the URI and parasites.

| I did everything, no one wants to get involved and says they cant do anything - i have to take it to court which is going to be very expensive.

| The official vet letter states he died from URI, he was only one pound and very sick from the day we got him.

| Try taking them to court yourself. Arm yourself with everything, All vet bill and e-mails. Times you contacted them. It's worth a try.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | PetHell does way more than lie. They buy from Puppy Mills - they're the biggest customer of mills.....yet they tell people they buy from 'local breeders' which to me is fraud. It's rare that a Pet Store actually uses local breeders - It's well documented that they deceive the public ...many many people have no idea what they're getting into when they purchase a pet from them (until it's too late and they have a sick puppy or dog with heriditary issues) - as with many other pet stores. From what I've read - Petland has their butts covered always. I also would advise anyone who HAS purchased a dog from them to never use their vet - the reasons they want people to use their vet is because they're PAID to be on the side of the Pet Store. Once they have your money - they're pretty much done with you. With the thousands and thousands of complaints about Petland...the thousands of sick pets they sell - I can't believe nothing is ever done to stop them or shut them down. It's wrong but the laws are in their favor. One reason is ...selling animals rakes in huge profits for those involved.....The Mill makes money - the people who transport them all over the country profit - and the STORES make money - which is why you see the prices so jacked up. Even the AKC profits. For every dog they register - the AKC makes money so you'll find no help there either. I'm so sorry you lost your puppy. It doesn't surprise me because he came from petland - but I'm still very very sorry. |
