I have never seen a tail cut the same length in yorkies, cockers, cockapoos, poodles, english springer spaniel etc.. (these are the docked breeds I have owned).

Why can't the tails be done properly? Vets do NOT know the standard of every dog so they have to go by what the breeder tells them. So you cannot depend on the vets to do it right and so many breeders doing it don't know the correct length either. All 4 of my yorkies have different tail lengths. Only 1 of them is in the correct spot and one of them has a full tail and dew claws.

I think that if the topic is upsetting someone then maybe it's time to take a break from the topic.
Maybe I should have said the ones I have seen still wag because obviously I havent seen every yorkie lol although hey I love looking at pictures of cute yorkies

Callies is 3 inches as well I have no idea if thats docked or not I love it tho because it seems perfect for her. Its more then a nubby altho nubbys are cute. Callie has a lot of feeling in her tail she moves it like a cat when your touching it but I never noticed this until the groomer messed up and shaved it and I was kinda messing with it.

Brit, his tail is beautiful !!!

I'm quoting both you cool cats bc here we have a member who has a yorkie w/ a long, fabulous tail - and another member, who is a show breeder, responding in such a positive way . Love it.

It's pretty clear this is a tough thread for some people, but I think it's valid and important - the thread is about so much more than just its topic. As triggering as some of these posts are (for me too! ), I hope we can all maintain our cool as best we can, so the discussion can continue.

At the end of the day, I think we all want the same thing...what is best for the kiddos, right ? So, we're really all on the same team...just presenting information...and opinions...and questions...

Then put her on ignore...it will make life easier for you if certain people bother you.

Thanks... There really is a lot of great information on the internet to plow through. I do understand both sides of the coin (I love going to dog shows) but at the end of the day, I do not like to see any pain given to an animal for the sake of what human's like to look at...As I have said in another post..ear cropping is just plain cruel to me.

How are you offended when I stated that he was CUTE first? I just stated later that I THINK (IMO) that HE would be CUTER with a docked tail.

Jackson IS cute, period!

hmmm.. I dont do my own vax's my vet does.. two of my dogs cry out and flinch when being vaxed every single time. I had the choice to have my yorkie poodle mix tail docked or not, as I got him from friends and picked him out hours after he was born. The friend, took the pups at 3 days old, had the dew claws and tails done and said they never even cried out. SO I guess it just depends on the vets and the pain tolerance in dogs. Just like children/people. My oldest who is 12, hates shot and will react every time. My other 3 kids even as babies sat still and never cried for shots or blood draws and slept through ear piercings.
Both my toy poodle and yorkie mix have nubs that wag just like my 2 dogs with tails, lack of comminucation.. i think not..
Bottom line, if you want to follow the standard then the docked tail in yorkies is nessacary,(sp?) if you only want a pet then look for a breeder that will give you a choice or choose a dog breed that has a full tail, like the biewer..

Not offensive at all, but it's probably a better practice not to comment on anyone's dog unless it's 100% positive. People are touchy about their pups, just human nature.

No attack here. Just stating the facts...the YTCA standard is a docked tail. Until the miraculous day that changes, the complaints about people docking tails, or complaints against people who love the tail docked on their Yorkies is worthless IMO.

I said I would be offended if you were talking about my dog, but I thought you were talking about the dog in the video? Lol, I'm sooo confused. I get what you're saying. I'm just saying if someone told ME "he would be a lot cuter withOUT his tail..." I'd be a little like, oohhkay, well your dogs nub is ugly and he would look so much cuter with a fluffy tail.

I also understand that everybody finds something different cute. Some people think Pugs are hideous, but I'm sure their owners wouldn't appreciate being told that they weren't cute, ya know? Dogs become like our children (obviously - I think everyone on this site knows that! lol) and I don't think it's cool to judge dogs cuteness publicly.
