| YT 500 Club Member | Outside the house mine are dogs plain and simple, people already thimk I'm crazy enough around here as it is. Inside the house they're the 'kids' and my mom referes to Rosie as the baby as she the younest and Alfie as big brother. I dont mind it when others refere to them as dogs either. |

| I don't mind when people call them dogs as they are dogs. I choose to call them my babies or one of their nicknames. I don't expect anyone to really call them furbutts or furbaby but they will call them by their names before calling the dogs. I guess I have my family and friends trained well.

| I HATE it when someone knows Fancy's name and they call her a dog or "that dog". I would rather people who know her name refer to her by her first name.

| I always get on to my boyfriend for calling Ella a dog. Although, he refuses to call her our furbaby. He thinks that is silly. Oh well, i still do. She has lot of other little pet names. I like calling her pup scout. It's just cute. =]

| Oh and something i'll never forget is when my boyfriend's cousin's husband called my Ella a gremlin! I was so mad. I will never forgive him for that one.

You know, if it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, then it is probably a duck. The same goes for DOGS. I call mine "kids" but I know they are dogs.

| Personally, to me, the words "furbaby" or "furbutt" are like nails on a chalkboard ! They just sound so childish (no offense, I just mean for me personally) I call my dogs, pup, pooch, or most likely one of her millions of nicknames. If you were to tell someone, "she's NOT a DOG, she's a FURBABY", one (most likely both) of two things are likely to happen: a) they'll think your insane, or b) they will not take you seriously. They ARE dogs in the same way someone's precious little baby Johnny IS a human. So what if someone refers to your dog as a dog? It's only an identifying term There are more important issues regarding your pups, IMO |

I call Pippi Gizmo (I guess he was the 'good' gremlin? He was cute, nonetheless). She has such big ears, that's what I thought of.

That's about trhe way I feel when someone actually calls them my "son" or my "daughter" And dogs understand being treted like dogs, it makes sense to them. they do not understand being treated like people. It confuses them.

| An off-the-wall story that I swear is true: 2 women (I hope they aren't members, but I'll take my chances ) were at the dog park I take Pippi to. They had 3 dogs: 2 Yorkies & a Chihuahua. All were decked out in ridiculously frilly attire for playing at a park. Anyway, if the dogs began misbehaving (which was always. These women had obviously but zero to no effort into training - it was as they were more interested in dressing them up), so, for example, dog #1 began acting out. They'd clap their hands and say [dog's name] & ONE...TWO...THREE! LOL! Like a mother scolding a child! Of course, the dog would not respond, so one of the women scolded her in a name that wasn't the dog's name. I asked, 'who's that?' and she responded, "oh, that's her middle name. That's when she knows she's in BIG trouble." No wonder their dogs were so ill-behaved. It looked like they were using them as substitute for human children. I felt so-oo sorry for those pups Poor things had to be terribly confused. |
