I hate people calling my furbaby as "dog" - Page 5 - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Everybody who knows me, know that I call my my furbabies girls, gut I don't mind when they called dogs, they just have never own a yorkie before lol. Somentimes Phoebe will laid in the floor and I will tell her what are you doing in the floor? you are not a dog, hubby just give me the look

wellll only because I was up at the buttcrack of dawn I re-read it again and I guess I wasn't THAT tactful lol - that is one of THE best all time threads here for a laugh.

I have to think poor Diamond was in therapy and that's why the original poster never came back.....

Well the bottom line is that they are DOGS. Cute as heck, yes! But dogs nonetheless.

I wonder how the kids would feel if I lovingly referred to them as dogs instead of humans. You could say to them, "I love you so much Johnny your my little doggy"!! Just kidding but it did strike me this way for a moment. I mean if you love your dog so much you consider them your kid then couldn't it be possible that you love your kid so much you consider them your dog? Oh well anyway, I love Roxie to pieces (more then I could ever even say) and we always call her our baby, even our spoiled rotten baby. I have never really considered her one of my kids for the simple fact that she really isn't like my kids. She's always happy to see me, she doesn't talk back (much), she loves to go with me anytime anyplace. She's always in tune with my feelings. Loves to cuddle with me and the list goes on. While human kids will do these things they only do them from time to time until they grow out of it. There are so many differences between skin kids and fur kids and I love them both. Just try not to forget the differences and appreciate them!

Here's one: I ran into a woman on a walking trail last summer and she actually asked me, that kind of "beast" this was!(referring to my beloved yorkie, of course). I was so shocked at her expression, I picked up my cell phone right after and called my husband to vent. Are people THAT stupid?

or just THAT ignorant?

Counting works with my pup...people roll their eyes at me and tell me that dogs don't understand, but I rarely get to 3 because Maximo knows something undesirable follows: outside time ends, or he is forced to spend alone time...in his room.

Spanish-speaking people call their human babies "puppy." I love hearing my sister-in-law say it, and Antonio Banderas, ahhhh, fantastic accent. Everything sounds like a term of endearment when he says it.

Ooh well, just to tell that I've never think Sugar is a "human", I don't like people calling her "Dog", but it doesn't mean I think Sugar is "human", I only think furbaby sounds better than dogs

I guess it all depends on what connotation the word "dog" brings to mind. For me Dog is a good term, it refers to a 4 legged furry faithful companion.

I do not see it as derrogatory.
