| Shredding his pee pad When I have to leave the house I put Brady in the kitchen with a baby gate up so he's not roaming the house lifting his leg to all my furniture. When I come back he's been a good boy and gone potty on his pee pad but then he drags it across the kitchen and shreds it! Disgusting! I could be gone for ten minutes and he will do this. Brady is very spoiled and I try to rush back. How can I stop this? It's gross!!! |

| You should try the washable kind. They're made of sturdy material that he couldn't shred. I get mine from another YT member RDB11 - check the for sale section for his threads.

| Thank you! The only reason I hadn't tried them was because I thought if I trained him to pee on cloth every rug in my house would be fair game. |

| That's a definite possibility. I no longer have any rugs down for just that reason (I don't have carpeting so the trade-off was worth it for me). I know some other members have tried the pad holders for their disposable pads, but they say their pups still shred the pads. Wish I had better advice for you!

| I quit using the disposable pads long ago for the same reason. I get my pad from Ezwhelp and they are great: Reclaimed Pads I buy the used pads and they are in excellent condition. I usually get the ones with no stains that are $3.95 each but this last time I order some of the ones with no stains but they had a tiny hole in the backing and those were just $2.95 each. I have no carpet in our house so the pads work great. |

| Great minds think alike.... I was going to start a thread on this subject too. Mine like to play with the new pads when I change them. So, I was wondering if using a reusable one inside a litter box/pan works better. For the YTers that do this, please let us know how this works for you. I thought this might help with the "going" on a rug issue, as well. My two are doing really well with the pads (well, let's just say that Saydee makes Rily look really good, ) but they both will "go" on a rug or towel or anything else that looks like a pad.

| Tape! My father used to say "Duct tape can fix anything!". Maybe it will fix this too! |

| I had the same problem with Brooklynn. I just took a milk jug, and filled it with water and put it on the pee-pad. She has not torn it up in about 2 or 3 weeks. Now I am starting to slowly move it off the pad hoping to get rid of it soon. I must also say, this was a suggestion that was given to me by a YT'er a few weeks back! Good luck!

| So I taped the pad to the floor then filled a jug and taped a pad around it. He likes having something to lift his leg to anyway. He's rotten. I caught him digging a hole through the center of the pad trying to dig under the jug. I'm just hesitant about the cloth ones. I really love my rugs and want to train him not to use them. Rugs, towels, cloth of any kind getting peed on is just going to make me angry. I'm either going to have to litter train or get the indoor grass stuff. |

| Lay the pad inside the large size dog litter pan (keeps your floors clean) that is sold at Petco or PetsMart, and keep it in the corner of the room if possible. It is easier for them to step into with the side opening. Call it his "potty box" to him and start demanding that he uses it. He'll not want to move the box around because it's to heavy. You can start by taping it down inside of it, if he still try's to pull them out being mischief...LOL But eventually he'll leave it alone. Be sure to put toys around for him as well. Oh the Purina Second Nature one. Last edited by Cerise; 11-18-2009 at 12:29 PM. |

| I have four puppies that do the same thing. I have tried getting a piece of artificial grass and cut it the size of a box lid and placed it in there. It has to have a lip around the edges to keep it in. maybe a plastic box and cut an opening in it so he can walk in and out of it. It seems to be working. They are not 100% yet but at least they are keeping it put. |
