| ![]() Coins in a can (shaking the can) worked great over here. Now if he sees the can, he shuts up. Squirt bottle worked over at my dads house when he would chase/bark at the cats, just a quick squirt and he's actually become friends with the cat. I always like to recommend to people exercise as well. A tired dog is a happy dog in my opinion and if you give them long walks every day or play a good game of fetch... give them exercise in some form. I know when Jackson goes to the dog park for 2 hours, he comes home and doesn't wanna bark at anything, he's far too tired. Barking can be a result of boredom as well.

| ![]() Every time I see a post about barking dogs I offer this suggestion because it worked for me on FOUR dogs. No one has ever come back and told me it was not working for them. Roll up newspapers, secure each with a rubberband and place them in several key locations in the house. I had them on the kitchen counter and the coffee table. Whenever your dog barks slap the newspaper down hard (so it makes a loud noise). Right after that say "Quiet" or "No Bark" in a very commanding way. The first couple of times it will startle her into not barking. If she barks again slap it down again. Use some real force so it will be really loud. Within a few times all you have to do is reach for it as you say "Quiet" and she will listen. Soon after that you will only have to say the word. This worked like a charm and didn't harm man nor beast. Although they do tend to eyeball me when I pick up the paper to read - they calm down when they see me UNroll the paper. Good luck and best wishes. |

| ![]() I actually use two things. A sound machine to block out the little noises that will get the ones sleeping with me in bed going. It helps so they don't hear all the little noises that a normal house creates. Also, the Lentek Bark Free ![]() Used on the ultrasonic it's amazing. I have one girl who won't even come upstairs if it's on. I guess she has sensitive ears. ![]() |

| ![]() The pennies in a can are really working for us. You just get a normal empty pop can and put several pennies in it. Whenever they bark, you shake it and say 'No bark!' It scares them enough to stop, but if they bark again... you just shake it again. I would not use the spray bottle... it is a form of punishment. You don't want them to associate it with you, or else they will just bark when you are gone. Good luck!!

| ![]() Thank you very much for your time and suggestions, I will try each method and see if it works. I'm not sure the pennies in can and the rolled newspaper work as Sugar dislike loud noises and sometimes she even barks more, I will still try it first ![]() It's very strange she never want to bark in the afternoon, she barks like mad man only every evening and night. |

| ![]() I have a different point of view. Instead of trying to get her to stop barking, why don't you try to figure out WHY she is barking in the first place? Is she bored? Is she all alone in her pen or crate? Does she want up in your lap? She can't get to her favorite toy? treat? hungry? antsy? I highly doubt the dog barks only to anger your family and neighbors. There must be a reason. I didn't use pennies in a can, citronella collars, water squirts, bark repellers, loud noises, etc. In my eyes those are all scare tactics. When Uni barks at me I ask her what she wants. 99% of the time I already know what she wants (playtime). But if I don't, I follow her and say what? what do you want? She will lead me to what it is and then I will know. If you ignore them, they will just continue to bark.

YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() another suggestion would be the dap the dog appeasing pheoromone, it puts out a scent that dogs smell and smells like a nursing dog, it will chill them out a little, people use it for noises, thunder, things like that, just plug it in the wall and thats it |

| ![]() I have found the best solution is exercise...alot of yorkies dont get enough. They are energetic dogs and will act out if they dont get enough exercise. I would try this before squirting her in the face with water ![]()

She always has enough treats, toys (I often buy her new toys), I tried to put her in the living room where we enjoy our evening show (so she won't feel lonely), but she just wouldn't stop barking. Maybe yes, there's one and only way to stop her from barking, it's to place her on my laps. But I can't put her on my laps for the whole night, I even couldn't go to toilet because she would start to bark if she didn't see me. She has changed a lot in these 2 weeks, there's no reason why she want to stick with me and she chose not to listen to "Quiet" ![]() Please don't get me wrong, of course I love her and would love to have her by my side for whole night, but it didn't work because I have house chores and some work need to be done at night, I couldn't even go to toilet.. Now I have to accompany her every nights, and if I'm not at home, there's no one in my family could stop her. That's why I need to find a way to stop her from barking non stop ![]() | |
