| Leaks.....Ahhhhg! Okay, I now have 5 furbabies and as you all know leaks happen. I realize this carpet has to go. As much I try I still have the accidents. So I need to replace the flooring. I really like wood floors but I was wondering how they hold up to these leaks that seem to occur when my back is turned. Is tile floor better? What about the grout? I would appreciate input on what the best flooring would be to replace the carpet. Thanks Pam

| I have hardwood in kit, dining rm, living rm, halls & entrance and tile in baths and sunroom. I've not had any problems with my hardwood and accidents or leaks. I'm sure to clean up with proper product and it works great. I like the hardwood better than my tile. |

| I hate carpeting and love love love hardwood floors for exactly the reason you mentioned. As long as the wood is properly sealed with several coats of poly, they are extremely easy to clean. I usually vacuum with my Rainbow first, then mop.....I use very hot water and a squirt of windex to cut the dirt. The less water that is left standing on the wood, the better. A little potty accident isn't really a problem. It is just so nice to know that the mess is totally gone, not lingering under layers of padding. My motto? Life's messy....clean it up!

| I would love to have my whole house tiled but it's not in the budget right now. The two new puppies have free time in the living/dining area which is still carpeting. I keep little training pants on them with the pads in them while they are having free time, just in case. If they do start to sniff around or squat, I can get them outside without any pee getting on the carpet. We all know how fast they can go on wall to wall carpeting

The hardwood floor should be fine, I have it in my bedroom and used to have through out my old apartment and never had a problem. The seal they put on it protects it, even if you don't get to it right away. You may want an extra coat, we only have a light seal in my bedroom and the rain came in once and the wood did spread a bit but hardly noticeable. I will be replacing my carpet with hardwood floors also with the exception of the family room where I will put berber with protection on it. The grout I notice becomes discolored.

| I have hardwoods which are only very lightly sealed and those are a nightmare with accidents! I also have carpet which has the usual problems and I have these amazing mexican tiles in the kitchen. My Hamish pees in there when we won't let him out to the pool where the rest of the family is (he is an anger pee-er!) and those floors are the absolute EASIEST to clean. Also, they never look dirty, even with a million teenager feet running back and forth from outside to inside, wet pool feet, damp dogs, you name it. Now, if I could, I would do my whole house in tile, but, since thats probably impractical I am going to re-do in a very highly sealed hardwood. good luck!
