| Doggie Day Care I am so excited because I took Capone for his interview at doggie daycare yesterday and they said he did excellent. I was really happy and I took him back today, the daycare is called Camp Bowwow and I can watch my little man on the internet. When I tune in to watch him though he's not playing with the other dogs, he just stays in this one spot scratching the fence. I have heard excellent things about doggie daycare and thats why I decided to take him to one. But his anti-social behavior isn't like him at all. Normally, he loves other dogs, should I be concerned? |

| My guys love Doggie Daycare! Hi, my three yorkies have attended doggie daycare. The one they go to separates big dogs and little dogs, so they are never in the pen with anyone who could seriously injure them. They are also supervised at all times. We started bringing them when Teddy was a baby because he had so many fears about life and stuff. He got over his fears and made friends. At first, it was like having a kid on the playground who plays alone...so sad...but then he became best friends with a mini schnauzer named Remy. So heart warming to see them joust! As for Daisy, she hates Doggie Daycare. We feel bad so dont leave her there anymore. And, Barney, LOVES LOVES LOVES daycare. They call him the "Patrolman" -- at 9 years old, he is so dog social and is great around the young puppies. He firmly disciplines them but maintains order so the young puppies learn appropriate canine behavior. That's why he's the patrolman. Here is the bottom line - some dogs LOVE dog daycare and others dont. Just like humans, sometimes they dont want to make new friends (like my Daisy). But, you need to give your baby some more time -- if you notice after 2 more sessions that there is no interaction, then you are not benefitting the dog and it would be wise to discontinue. Good luck!

| My Lola adores daycare! She knows how to get there...she practically leads me and is running the whole way and her tail is wagging like crazy. She is put in an area called tiny tots...where she is with similar puppies/dogs of the same size and temperment. I always watch them place her in there and stand outside the room(its all in glass) to watch that she is playing and doing well. She always looks happy and is running around like crazy! By the time I see her photos midday and videos....she too is sitting by herself in the corner on one of the beds watching everyone playing. I think that she just gets her spurts of energy to play at different points during the day and is not a constant player. I also call up the daycare and ask about her frequently and they too say that she is just one of those puppies that do not play constantly all day long, but will play when she wants to. You need to see if your little one enjoys going by how he acts when he gets there and if he is excited to be there. If he is happy to go there, maybe he doesnt want to play all the time. Lola runs up to every dog when we take her on walks and cries if the dog ignores her and doesnt want to play, but at daycare, after a bit, she just sits in the corner watching. Give him some time there....he will be fine. Also, see if they can integrate him slowly...he may be overwhelmed. Lola was integrated slowly before she was put into tiny tots...I think that definitely helped her. Good luck! |

| Thanks for sharing your experiences, I'll give it a few more tries. I'm going to ask if I can watch him in person when I pick him up today. He may just need an adjusting period. They have dogs that are a little bigger, but are older or more shy so I don't mind (He plays well with my friend's huge lab). I was so excited to take him so I hope he likes it. I planned on taking him about once a week, should I take him more in the beginning so that he can have time to get used to it? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy was definitely overwhelmed the first time I took her to daycare. She absolutely loves other dogs, but walked around as though she were totaly lost. Second time, she got very excited when we got there, couldn't wait to get in the door. When I picked her up, she wanted nothing to do with leaving. Kept pulling to go back in. She continues to do that now. Take her one afternoon every week. When we get there now, her excitement level is over the top. She's wiggling/pulling so much I can hardly get her in the door. While there she roams around alone a lot, but interested in everything that goes on. Attendants are quite good at watching stress levels & will pick her up & hold her for awhile or put her on a resting bench. Love watching her on the internet! Give Capone a few more tries before you decide. His behavior will help you decide the right way to go.

Here are some pictures that were taken today at doggy day care. You will see her just relaxing at sometimes in the mix. Depends on how she is feeling, but I do know she loves it! | |

| Doggie Day care? I am assuming this is a day care like for babies, however, do they stay all day while at work or is this just a visit while running errands? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | The one I use is all day, partial days, they also board dogs. 6:30am-7:00pm M-F, Sat - 8-5pm, Sun 9-12noon. Naptime 11:30-1:30 w/no pickups or dropoffs during that period. Dogs all sizes/ages, but petitioned off according to size. Have indoor/outdoor areas. Attendants are milling around with the dogs at all times making sure they are all getting along. In all the times she's been there & I've watched her on the internet, I've never seen any of the dogs having a problems. The most I've ever seen them do is occasionally use a squirt bottle on any dog getting a little too rambunctious. It's amazing how well they all get along. What you do while they are there is up to you. Roxy was still quite young when she first went. She had to have completed all her shots & passed their temperment test. Since she was so young, I've only left her for the afternoon. That seems to have been plenty for her. Now that she's a little older I think she could handle the full day better, but I'm in no hurry to push for that. She's plenty happy with a partial day.

| Whatever you perfer, you just drop them off and pick them up whenever you're ready. I take Capone on days when I know I have errands to run after work. He's doing better at it I think. I'm going to give it a few more tries and see if he likes it more, he's still sitting in one spot waiting for a human to walk by. |
