My guys love Doggie Daycare! Hi, my three yorkies have attended doggie daycare. The one they go to separates big dogs and little dogs, so they are never in the pen with anyone who could seriously injure them. They are also supervised at all times.
We started bringing them when Teddy was a baby because he had so many fears about life and stuff. He got over his fears and made friends. At first, it was like having a kid on the playground who plays alone...so sad...but then he became best friends with a mini schnauzer named Remy. So heart warming to see them joust!
As for Daisy, she hates Doggie Daycare. We feel bad so dont leave her there anymore.
And, Barney, LOVES LOVES LOVES daycare. They call him the "Patrolman" -- at 9 years old, he is so dog social and is great around the young puppies. He firmly disciplines them but maintains order so the young puppies learn appropriate canine behavior. That's why he's the patrolman.
Here is the bottom line - some dogs LOVE dog daycare and others dont. Just like humans, sometimes they dont want to make new friends (like my Daisy). But, you need to give your baby some more time -- if you notice after 2 more sessions that there is no interaction, then you are not benefitting the dog and it would be wise to discontinue.
Good luck!
