| Come = run away? does your yorkie come to you everytime you say 'come'? it annoys me when milu does not come to me when i say 'come'. when we are out at a dog park or pet shop, she will stay by my side and will come to me whenever i call her, but she usually doesn't come to me when i call her at home. (unless i say "do you want a treat?" or if she knows i have treats) how often does your yorkie come to you when you say 'come'? when we are out, she will come to me every time i call her, but when we are home, if i don't have treats, she will come to me maybe 2 out of 10 times i call her...

| Laci will come if I call her and we are in the house, however at the dog park she will just leave with whomever rubs her belly, I have to keep her on a leash, I see everyone else with yorkies there and they all follow them, not my girl, she would leave with who ever.. I know she is still a puppy and is fasinated by ever smell everywhere we go, flowers , grass, weeds , trees and yes even dog poop... |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Tia was the exact opposite. Never came when we were out walking especially if other people or dogs were around.I had to get firm as she nearly ran out of a field into a busy road chasing a human! When I got her I picked her up by the scruff of the neck and said NO .(saw it on dog whisperer) She has till this day always come back even with distractions.

| Hm, I would say Jackson comes 8 times out of 10. We're still working on it, but he's pretty good. As soon as he hears me whistle and yell "Jackson!" he usually comes running. Since day one, I've always given him a little treat when he enters the house from outside.

| Charlie (2 yrs) doesnt come a lot of the times when I call him at home, but at the dog park he does. It gets really annoying, sometimes he hides under the couch and wont come out! Also when he begs to get up on the bed and I bend downt to help him up, he runs away from me! Chloe (11 months) however, comes every time I call her. No doubt about that. I dont know why Charlie does this! Hes very well trained other than that, he can do sit, rollover, down, paw, "BANG"(plays dead), spin..etc etc) |

This sounds so much like Jackson! He does the same thing w/ the whining to get on bed then I lean down to pick him up and he runs!! So annoying!! Jackson is also really smart and knows all those tricks etc -- I blame it on him being TOO smart!

| LOL!!!!! I know how you feel!!! Unless I have a treat my Harley will just look at me like I better go get him a treat!!! When I was training the down position he would sit, bark, and then run and jump on the couch and look at me!!! It takes a while but now he tries to come when I ask him!!!

| Clicker Training is a great tool for this command. Once I started using it, Sophie would come everytime. Then when she got spayed, we got away from it for about 2 weeks. I thought I'd let her rest and recover at her own speed instead of shoving training time at her everyday. Well, lo and behold, she remembered every command but "come". So I grab the clicker back out of the closet and strated using it again. She's much better! |

| Tatum's pretty much 100% with the "come" command. It came in really handy right after she first learned it..... we were next door at my husband's uncle's house and his two big dogs starting running after a truck pulling a trailer (in the pasture). Well, Tatum thought she'd run with the big dogs and took off after them. Then I saw the truck go into reverse. The guy was backing up the trailer. Of course, the big dogs, they just run out of the way but this guy wasn't watching for my little one. I hollered "Tatum.... Stop.... Come!". I was a little bit shocked and oh, so proud when she did exactly what I said - immediately. Probably saved her life. We practice it often around the house so she doesn't forget it. It's a very important command to teach!

my fiance said that it's because she doesn't actually want to come up to the bed, she just wants me to get off the bed and play with her.

how old is laci? you might try bringing treats with you to the dog park so you can reward her when she comes to you.

| I have the same problem. She used to come to me at home when I call out, "Pichu, whatcha up to?" and she'd come to me no matter what she was doing and then just run off again without coming close enough to touch. But she stopped doing that now too. What she does respond to wherever (as long as there aren't other animals she's taken interest in around) is the "paw" command. She would go out of her way to come bring me her paw. |

| Haha, I think that must be it! That's why I want a little boy. So many people say how cuddly and clingy they are! LOL. I'd love to experience that too so that I'd have another baby to turn to when my little girl thinks she's too old to be coddled and kissed. |
