yea, i will have to start carrying around treats when i am in the house i guess. so she will come to me when called. but, i've heard that part of the training process is to wean them off of treats, and use praises instead. (especially if the dog is over weight) i guess when milu is older she will learn to enjoy praises just as much as treats...probably not

| I really laughed at your thread title. Our Binky would go the opposite way, um just about every time you called him, in house, outside, anywhere. Oh, he acknowledged that he heard us with a glance over his shoulder as he went the other way. We loved him just the same, that stubborn little dog.

| So glad that it's not just my guy! Gunnar will not come to me when its bed time or when I need to leave for work. I can't even intice him with treats. He takes off and goes under the dining table, where I can't reach him. He is so fast! He is 8 months old and sits, stays, paw/shake and (lay) down, but not come! Donna

for example, if the dog doesn't like to be bathed. don't say 'come' and then wash the dog once she/he comes to you. you just go get the dog in this case. only do fun things that the dog enjoys when you call them to come to you.

| lol, my instructor didn't say anything about that, but 'i' say, sophie doesn't think it's bath time yet. i think that sophie doesn't believe in such frequent baths! i think that sophie thinks baths are like birthdays, you gotta have one once a year!

| Well Murfee had a "run in" with my donkey because he won't obey the come command. He is pretty good.....unless he is chasing something. It's like he is in a zone and doesn't even hear me. I don't know what to do

| JoJo also knows the command to come but ignores it most of the time. It's like he is saying "You have to really work hard for me to come". Of course if he gets scared by a noise he will be big and brave and get right up by my neck. He really is cuddly most of the time and he also does the turn around, backing up thing when he decides he wants to be picked up. They are so funny with their little habits and they have us right where they want us. |

YT 500 Club Member | Yes, yes, yes! I swear Sophie is a cat. When I call her she looks at me and seems to say "What's in it for me?" If no treat is involved, chances are that she will just plant her little butt and stare at me.
