Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Just got back from taking the DNA test and it has be sent thru the mail...uggh!!! I tried to overnight it at UPS but it's going to a PO Box and they can't overnight to a PO BOX so I have to wait until morning to send it out....The vet laughed at me when I asked what the chances are that she is pure....they were concerned with what I was going to if she's mixed...then she went on about how mixed are more healthy and so on and so on...good thing is the woman there knew some law stuff....anyway, she thinks something got slipped in somewhere along the way..... |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Oh, the woman at the vet said she's too sweet to be chihuahua but they can take on either side when they're mixed........but she does look like it...she was just outside running and she practically lifted both back legs while running...can you say chihuahua??????????? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() That's what's odd about this, she kept saying just the opposite about herself!!!! I mean she really knows how to talk up a storm. She said she only breeds in her line so she knows what's going on!!!! So, she knows what the puppy is!!! She explained herself the opposite of how you describe a backyard breeder to be. The guy I got my male from wasn't an experienced breeder and my male is gorgeous....sometimes when these puppy mill type people know a little bit they know how to fling the bull...you should have heard the other lady with the puppy mill right in her house???????????? The guy I got my male from made several trips to the vet when he didn't have to.....sometimes the people that don't know as much are honest at least and won't lie just to sell you a crap puppy....the guy even though unexperienced and only tried the whole breeding thing cuz he had a male and female, I was better off with because at least I have one Yorkie I know is really a Yorkie.... |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Has anyone ever seen a Yorkie run with it's bum up, almost back end feet up like a chihuahua does? I've seen chihuahuas on America's funniest home videos doing it and Ksena does it....never seen a Yorkie do it....Don't they run flat footed...Ksena almost hops...cute yes but not exactly Yorkie, right? |

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() To be perfectly honest I think everyone who breeds Yorkies have gotten a pup they wondered about, even when your breeding program is very specific and careful. But usually when these pups have showed up(not very often) I have looked for special homes and certainly didn't charge full price. If you read about the history of Yorkshire Terriers you read they were developed from several other older breeds and they were larger than todays Yorkies Then were bred down to very small sizes for the companion that they are today. I looked into showing because I have had a couple of babies that were very much to standard. But when I read about what they have to go through with their hair, I thought that was very unnatural and harsh treatment. So I backed off showing. I breed for temperment and health first and standard looks last. I love YorkieTalk because when one of my pups grew to 16lbs I was very upset and felt really bad, but I have learned on this site that is happens quite often. Like my Vet said we can't all be Miss America |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Wow, very well put...I agree and thank you. Yes, I believe in breeding for health first, temperment and then standard looks last. In this particular case, if she is mixed it would make me question health as well-unfortuneately. Everyone is different and what they believe. I personally wouldn't be interested in showing. I don't have anything against those who do but I'm interested in healthy beautiful pets. It's funny because I was just reading some of the info on toy breeds from the place I'm getting the DNA test done at it is interesting....I can't believe these cute little Yorkies used to be about 30lbs chasing rodent...wow! Very interesting. I wouldn't be too upset if they ended up being a little bit bigger but would like them to look like Yorkies...my Pekenese is a hair over what he should be as far as weight goes and that doesn't bother me...we're all very different, in some ways, huh |
