| ![]() I think the whole point of this is that it is pretty obvious that the breeder did a switch. Even if she had given her the puppy she picked out.. SURE it MAY grow to 10 lbs.. (but it certainly would not have gained 15 oz in 6 days) that really isn't the point. The point is the integrity of the breeder. I would be willing to bet that someone else decided they wanted that puppy and offered more money to get that puppy and the breeder figured she could make the switch without anyone noticing. If the breeder said she just ate alot in six days she is a FLAT OUT LIAR. Even if you decided that you wanted to keep this puppy, there is NO way in h3ll that I would NOT say anything to the breeder. I would let her know that you are keeping the puppy BUT that you KNOW WHAT SHE DID and don't appreciate it one bit. Shame on her!

| ![]() If I were the breeder and someone thought that I had switched pups - then I would make EVERY EFFORT to prove to the customer that they were wrong. Including bringing back all pups so that you can compare them. Since your breeder is not making any effort - then you need to make a quick decision before any more bonding takes place. Either return the pup and gather your evidence to prepare for court (and make a BIG SPLASH about it) - or keep her. Good luck! My baby is 6 lbs and actually, she's the perfect size. She goes up/down the stairs, jumps off all the furniture and is healthy!!! BTW - despite all the good advice from others (myself included) I WOULD BE PISSED OFF until proven wrong. For that, I'm sorry.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I would be mad too. I saw Cali at 6 weeks and she was tiny way smaller than her 2 sisters. I took her beause the other 2 were spoken for and the breeder charged more because she was smaller. This was before I found YT. We went back to pick he up at 9 weeks and she was the same size as her 2 sisters but I could tell her face was the one I picked out. She was only 1 lb at 9 weeks and even though she was bigger than when I first saw her there was no way she gained as much as yours suppossedly did in 6 days. I would still call the breeder one last time and say for peace of mind could you see the littermates, if she refuses then it looks like she pulled a switch. I totally understand how you want the dog you picked out and paid for. You will eventually bond with her but you will always have that doubt in your mind. I hope you can get some answers.

| ![]() They can change a lot in a week, but I have never had one to gain that much more in that time frame, but BJH could be right about the scales, it sounds like she did switch them, and to let her go as early as she did should have been a dead give away, 8 weeks is way too young no matter what their size. I would have taken the puppy back if I had known you were not happy, but I wouldn't have switched them in the first place ![]()

| ![]() It sounds like you got screwed, because I've never seen one grow a pound in a weeks time, but, my first one was weighing to where she should have been around 4 lbs full grown, well, shes 6 now and is almost 15 lbs. so, the charts can be close, but, can also be way off. I have 4 little dogs, from 2.5 pounds to 15 and the one that is around 6 lbs is still very small, and the one that is 2.5, well, lets just say, although she's almost 8 mos and probably won't grow anymore, I wish she would put on some weight. It's just hubby and me, so we're careful around her, but, we have to make sure when the g-kids or anyone else comes over, that they watch they don't step on her |

![]() Contact the breeder and insist on seing the pups again! Yours might be already gone to a new home though ![]() Again, 6 lbs is a small dog... However, You ought to have gotten what you paid for and chose > I am glad you guys love this little puppy that you have brought home, however it does not excuse the fact that the breeder did this! I woulod be very upset too!

| ![]() My trusted breeder, who I bought 2 prior yorkies from deceived me with my latest pup on weight/size. She knew about how my darling Minnie (3-4lbs) died a horrible death due to liver failure ![]() I went over to see the pups and saw the female. I told her I was definite on the size I wanted and she assured me it would be small like Minnie was. When I picked her up and she gave me all the paperwork and showed me the weight and told me I had to pay extra for the small size, which I did. I took the new pup to the vet that afternoon and the pup was 10oz more than the weight on the paperwork (which was dated only 3 days prior). Yes, I am disappointed that I was "taken" by someone I trusted. I fell in love with Gabby (Gabrielle) and eventho she will not be small as I wanted and PAID FOR, I will not return her. She is 8 months old now and not only is she almost the size as Samson, but her nose is turning pink ![]() I informed the breeder of all of this and she said and did nothing about it, not even return the money for the purchase of a smaller dog. Needless to say, I will not use her again. Just love your dog and don't fret over the possible switch ![]() |

| ![]() I tried to post pictures but they had "too many pixels" and would not upload. Thank you everyone for your comments. I am disappointed that is for sure in what happened. |

The only thing that bothers me the most, besides Gabby's pink nose, is that fact I paid $600 more for a smaller size pup. She should of refunded that money. Her way of dealing with this is by ignoring my calls and emails. Oh well..... | |
