I guess even if animal control didn't do anything, this will at least be documented.

| ![]() The dog was not outside when I got home from work, about 330. I don't think animal control would leavel without doing something.

| ![]() I guess what I meant is if they just talked to the owner instead of taking the dog. In my area we don't even have animal control, so nothing would happen. If your pet gets lost...too bad! You have to hope that the person who finds it either see's signs you've posted or drives them the 1hr trip to a neighbouring city with animal control.

| ![]() I have 2 arctic style dogs that grew up in the rockies (nearly 100 lbs), then we moved to michigan. They get uncomfortably hot INSIDE after a while. They are more comfortable in their garage/ run area. If I look out and see them romping around in the snow all day then I know they are comfortable. It's when they spend their day inside of the garage part that I know they are probably cold and then they come in until the sun can shine on them again. I also have a pomeranian (8 lbs) who also has that double coat of fur and she can stay out much longer than my Yorkie. The yorkie has that single human like coat of hair (not insulated) and she goes potty very quickly and wants right back in. I think if that dog was out there in those temps for that long there is no way it could stay comfortably warm. I definitely think some dogs can certainly handle that weather but probably not a small poodle. |

| ![]() You did good and I probably would have ended up in jail because that dog is their property and they could sue me etc. It's just that it is so horrible of them. I am so cold now and I am in a warm home with the heat running ALL THE TIME and all I can think of is that poor dog.

| ![]() I know! I found this out when our Pug dog escaped the backyard through a fallen fence board. We had to find her on our own. I posted 70 signs throughout our neighbourhood (and was still putting them up) when some kids on bikes told me that they found her. Apparently the contract for animal control in our area expired in the fall of 2008 and noone has bothered to renew it. ![]()

| ![]() I have not seen the dog, yet, this morning. Hopefully the owners understand the severity of the situation and won't do it again. I hope animal control got there in time, and the dog is alright.

| ![]() any signs of their dog today? I think I would call animal control back and make sure this poor this is not at a kill shelter or something. I can hardly believe a little one would survive 7 hrs in those temps - and my 2 don't mind being outside for longer than I would think - but no way even a fraction of that time

| ![]() Calling animal control was the right thing to do. While we all would have wanted to take the pup and find a "good home" that is actually stealing. However, I do have a friend who stuck to her principals and spent time in jail for just that. She took an abused dog and gave it to someone who took it into another state. When the judge asked her where the dog was she refused to tell them even though it resulted in jail time for her. She said she was not going to allow the original owners to continue to abuse the dog. |
