I have 2 arctic style dogs that grew up in the rockies (nearly 100 lbs), then we moved to michigan. They get uncomfortably hot INSIDE after a while. They are more comfortable in their garage/ run area. If I look out and see them romping around in the snow all day then I know they are comfortable. It's when they spend their day inside of the garage part that I know they are probably cold and then they come in until the sun can shine on them again. I also have a pomeranian (8 lbs) who also has that double coat of fur and she can stay out much longer than my Yorkie. The yorkie has that single human like coat of hair (not insulated) and she goes potty very quickly and wants right back in. I think if that dog was out there in those temps for that long there is no way it could stay comfortably warm. I definitely think some dogs can certainly handle that weather but probably not a small poodle. |
