Ok so a yorkie love is NEVER to much lol what i mean is....

Since me and bailey moved out from my ex and into a place on our own we have become really close. He follows me around the house like my little shadow. He always wants to be on me so he can fall asleep or just to get cuddles, i love all this attention he is giving me and i have been lapping it up

now if i even move he follows me even if its gettin up to turn the tv on or to put the heating on, if i stand still for more than 2seconds he is on my feet trying to curl up and go to sleep, if i am busy on my lap top he just cries non stop to be on me. I am worried he is gettin to attached to me (not for me coz i love it) I dont want him to start to cry when i cant give him attention or when i go out for him to cry, coz he is really good at the moment and i am worried all this attention is going to in the end leave him wanting to be on top of me 24/7, am i being silly? I mean dont get me wrong i really LOVE it!! does your yorkie do this?

Ok 2nd question. Since we moved into the flat i have trained him to go on puppy pads and he is doing REALLY well, untill last week, he did a wee on my livingroom carpet as he was in the middle of doing it i picked him up and said no and put him on his puppypad which left a wee line from the livingroom to the puppypad in the hall LOL. Then he did a wee in my bathroom infront of me, again i picked him up and said NO and took him to his puppypad again as he was doing it. Then last night he did a wee on my kictchen foor i took him to the puppypad again leaving a wee line behind us. Why is he doing this when he knows to go on his pad? any other time he does a wee on his pad and ge gets a treat, he gets up alks out the livingroom and into the hall to go on his pad so he knows how to use it, i cant understand why he is doing it, and its always infront of me.

OK 3rd question. When i leave the house i put him in his HUGE crate, inside this crate is his bed and toys and his water bottle which hangs on the side of the crate. I never leave him for more than 4hours. The problem i have is he goes potty in his crate, he does wee's and poops

i dunno how to train him to hold untill i get home and he can go on his puppypad. I have even had to start putting a puppy pad in there or the crate is soaking. ALso he goes into his crate of a nite and also goes for a wee of a nite in there too, which he never did when i was with my ex? he has his small carry crate in there too for his 'den' and he has even started to wee on his bed in there too? i dunno how to stop this? can anyone help me?

Sorry to hear you are having probs. Do you think Bailey is adjusting to life without your ex? Maybe in time when he realises you are not leaving too, he will settle down again. It will be easier when the weather gets better too, as you will both be outside more.

Its been nearly 3months we have been in our own place, he ajusted really fast just has become really close to me (which i love hehe) but last week has started weeing everywhere infront of me eeek! and weeing in his crate which i dont know how to stop?

I can only answer the first question as I do not put Pao in the crate and he hates it as well..

Pao always follows me around the house..anywhere and everywhere. I think it is normal for Yorkies, they usually like to be with someone. Maybe in your case, he is adjusting to a new environment and being near you makes him feel safer. Mine has separation anxiety though..actually I am not sure if he has separation anxiety or he is barking out of protest just before we leave because he stops as soon as we have left so now 15 mins before we leave, we try not to talk, touch or have eye contact with him.

Edited to add: Just a suggestion, if space permits maybe use a playpen instead of a crate and leave a peepad in there?

He's a bit scared and confused about some of the new changes
Dogs don't like changes too much
A move new people or an absence of someone they are used to can send them into a frightened state
I am not surprised that he is shadowing you ... and I am not surprised that he's making potty mistakes
These are symptoms of a dog that has been traumatized to a certain extent
and that isn't to scare you
He will come around
Just keep him around other people and other dogs as much as you can
Keep his mind stimulated and playful

Hmmm...talking about changes..I remember when we moved 2 months ago, Pao was extra clingy. He is usually clingy but he was extra clingy. He kept asking to be carried for a few hours when we first moved in. So clingy that we came up with a plan to bring him back and forth from the old house to the new one and then back to the old and then the new one to let him understand that we are moving here and we intend to come home if we left him at home. Otherwise, I know he will think once we go out, we'll never come back to the new house. It took 2 weeks before he got the idea.

The'y really are smart, and sensitive. We have just been packing our boxes to go, and they seem depressed.

We have been here 3months and he is really happy and relaxed here, its just in the last week he has started to have wee wee accidents so its not coz of the move because he was fine before. Yes ur probs right, maybe with it just being me and him we have grown alot closer and thats why he is following me around which is fine

i was just worried this will make him cry for me when i leave the house, something he does not do now so i didnt want him to start doing coz we are gettin so close. As for the playpen, i have moved into a one bed flat so there is no way i could put a play pen in here, but the crate is more than big enough and he is used to it and is fine in there, apart from him doing wee's.

My Suzi follows me everywhere too.... Yorkies do get very attatched to their owners like this. Since he has not shown any separation anxiety when you leave , i would not worry about it. Remember that he will pick up on your anxiety too. About the peeing, to m e, it looks like he is marking his territory. New place , telling you he lives here now. Has he been fixed? I have heard that if you can catch him peeing, pick him up and place him of the pee pads right away. Use positive reinforcement always.

I sooo agree on that. I used to have a Japanese Spitz and Shih Tzu and they couldn't care less about where I was or what I do...My Yorkie, Pao different story lol. Whatever I do he has to literally stick his nose in lol.

Maybe he has a urinary infection. Take him to the vet to be sure. Don't wait because if he does have one, you wouldn't want it to get worse, and they can be very painful. Let us know what the vet says.

Hi,
My KiKi is like my shadow too!! When I go to the bathroom...she will even scratch at the door! Yorkies tend to attach themselves to one person more than others in a household..and they are very loyal and clingy to that person...
My adult kids make fun of her...but I love it and would not have it any other way!!

can i say how jealous i am?

mickey never shows me that much love unless if i have something that he wants

but when i was in korea, my cousin's dogs a maltese and westie terrier have shown me so much love i was very sad when i have to leave them becaues i knew in canada i wouldn't get that kind of love from mickey

i wonder if your dog's giving you this much love because you guys are in a new place and the dog probably suspects that your hurt (from the break up)
its strange how dogs know this. whenever i cry, mickey would come out of my mom's walk in closet and kind of sleeps near me so he can watch over me and try to comfort me.

and as for the "accidents" its hard to avoid them. mickey's 13 years old and he's been trained to use the guest bathroom aka his bathroom when he needs to pee when we can't take him out but he still make mistakes once in awhile. it was good that you said no to him as he was peeing because the last thing you want to do is scold him sometime after he had his accident because he will have no idea why you're scolding him.

and as for the whole dog crate thing, i don't know what to tell you. mickey is in the habit of peeing in the morning and at night. if we forget he'll take you to let you know that he needs to pee. i think he's this way because we always took him to pee at the same time every day for few years and now he expects to be taken at those hours and he holds it for most of the time. though once in awhile when he has to pee, he goes by himself to pee. with a younger dog its harder to train this way because they have smaller bladder and they need to pee more often.
