There are probably more members here who own or breed non standard colored yorkies than we are led to believe, since only a small percentage of dogs are correctly colored, per the YTCA's color standards.

Black coated yorkies, light blue or too dark of blue coated yorkies, yorkies who have dark hairs mixed in their tan coloring - they are all considered to be "not to standard." It's not just parti, chocolate or golden breeders who own and/or breed that have "non-standard" colors, it's any color other than steel blue and tan yorkies.

Just as you have traditional colored yorkie breeders who scam the public, you will also find golden, parti and chocolate breeders who are out to make a quick buck and to try to capitalize on the "rare" colored dog. To them, it doesn't matter how they get the color - a scammer is a scammer no matter how you look at it; no matter what colored yorkie they are trying to sell.

Best advise I can give you is, educate yourself on color genetics, get references on breeders, do your research on bloodlines (to see where the recessive color gene is coming from), look at the parents and grown siblings of the off colored pup before you buy (a line of unattractive dogs will probably not stop at the pup your looking at buying) and don't rush into buying something until you are sure that you are not blinded by color.

I am not a show person or a breeder and have just had my little yorkie a few months but i think the little furbaby in pinehavens avatar without the bow has to be one of the most beautiful furbabies I have ever seen and other that color looks exactly like other yorkies. I understand from hours of reading on here the breed standard issues but I also understand the genetic issues. I happen to love the looks of traditional yorkies but would be very proud also if I had one like that little guy. Hope I dont offend any breeders just a personal observation.

This is simple not true..only one Biewer Club in the US out of 5 makes this statement. In Germany where the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier originated does NOT endorse this statement either.

Biewers originated from Germany (True) and are mixed with other breed/s (only one club at this time believes that and there is not at this time a test that is 100% accurate in determining this information), while parti's are a result of a recessive gene that resides in Yorkie DNA (so do most Biewer breeders and in fact both the Parti's and the Biewers came out of the same kennel in England). They look similar from afar but Biewers have a set standard in color markings, which can be easily found if you look it up on google. Biewers cannot be registered with the AKC, whereas parti Yorkies can as they are Yorkies. Biewers are several pounds bigger on average and stockier (Not True). Many say they that Shih Tzu's were mixed into their lineage (no one knows for sure but I believe the original Biewers were from two Yorkshire Terriers). In fact some poor excuses for breeders did mix in Shih Tzu but again they would be like designer dogs of today.

Politics are alive and well in the dog breeder world and you will see it very much in the Parti's and the Biewers and the YTCA/AKC.

Sorry but we have gone round and round on this forum regarding all of this. You have to understand the politics of all of this to really understand what is really going on.

After a International gentic study on the piebald spotted coat color
it was concluded that the Biewer breed's white coat pattern is a result of the piebald gene, notfrom another dog being bred into the yorkshire terrier

In Korea there are TONS of Yorkies(or at least ones that look like Yorkies) and there is always at least one store that is dedicated to clothing for dogs. The bunny outfit was like 10,000 won(like 6 bucks American).
