| Makes me kind of sick I was browsing the dogs for sale on Kijiji in my city just for fun and I came across this ad. It kind of made me upset! Those are the kind of dogs that are shown on tv as being "cool accessories" the little 2-3 lb ones for show. Uggggh I wish people like that would do some research first. 5 lbs for me is too small! heres the ad Female Short Hair Chihuahua WANTED - Windsor Dogs & Puppies For Sale - Kijiji Windsor |

| Hmmm, I wouldn't specifically look for a dog that small, but I'm all right with the fact that Missy's only suppose to end up being 3.25 lbs fully grown. I fell in love with her, not her size. I have been quite surprised with some of the comments I've received about Missy. Such as, "NO, I don't want to hold her, she's too small" and "why didn't you get a REAL dog". I have to admit, it hurt my feelings! I very much think of Missy as a "real dog".

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I understand that people want small dogs...and I don't have a problem with small dogs at ALL - I think they're adorable. But I just don't think that this person understands what she is getting along with a small dog. It's not just a little chi. that she can put in her purse and take places with her...having a small dog is VERY dangerous! It's SO easy for them to get hurt. A dog that is 2.5-3 lbs can never be trusted to jump off the couch, sleep on the bed at night (might roll over on them), go outside for even 1 second by themself, etc. and they are much more prone to health problems. It's so hard to get them spayed/neutered or something as simple as a teeth cleaning because of the affect the anestesia can have on them. I mean, I don't know this person, maybe they are well aware of all of this - so I don't want to judge them. I just *really* hope that they are educated as to what the potential problems are, for the dog's well being and their own! EDIT: and Shaunna, I think that Missy is just the CUTEST little thing! and I don't get when people say that small dogs aren't real dogs - obviously they've never had a small dog before.

| Honestly, I've never seen a full grown dog that small in person - only pictures. I can imagine they are hard to take care of minus the health issues they could face. It's like having a puppy for life - they will never get any bigger!!! I don't think I could do it, not with 4 human kids anyway! ~Shelly |

| Little dogs... We have a Chihuahua that small. My daughter is the die hard Chi lover. I know the breeder personally we got her from, I know the pups parents. It is simply amazing she stayed so small, and perfectly healthy. She has seen my vet since the first day we got her,at 8 weeks old. She took her rabies shot just fine, all her shots. She has never had a sugar drop, but I keep food down all the time for her. My daughter does carry her around in her purse... but I carry all my little dogs in purses, (dog purses) they go in all the stores with me. I am a true dog mom. LOL I put a pic of "Malibu Tylie" in my albums... so if you want to see her you can. I couldn't get her pics on here... to big |

| With our first dog we knew we wanted small and non-shedding but didn't have an actual size requirement for what "small" would be . We figured around a Westie's size was a good start. Sydney was 8-10 weeks old when we got her , she is now three years old and around 12 lbs. I thought she was a perfect size . We wanted small but not to small and we also wanted a dog to run and play with the kids ( which she DOES), A very small chi would not have worked. Chloe on the other hand is very small. She is 8 months and 2.5 lbs. The breeder didn't think she would get over 3 lbs. fully grown. I wasn't really looking for a specific size , but I fell for her , and knew she was for us. I agree that some people only want it for the "purse " factor . They have no idea of all the other things that can come with having a pup that small. Chloe is no delicate flower ( atleast in her own mind) she will try to do anything without regard to her size...so we have to watch her alot more than we did Sydney at the same age.

| mstter of opinion.. I do think it is just a matter of opinion when some one wants one that small... a reputably breeder who has one that small will educate. When I EVER have one that looks like it could be that small I won't sell to certain situations. As, I don't care if you have 12 kids, I feel if you want a dog you should be able to have one, just can't buy a tiny tiny one from me for your kids... sorry. My daughter has said I have come across very rude over this, but tinies are for adults. They have too many needs... and yes.. they do NOT know their size! I personally don't see too many tiny breeders who just let them go to just any one. Most will even just keep them if they are unsure of the buyers. |

| I think that is sick. I hate seeing that. The thing i hate about it is that if the right person sees the add, they think they can make a buck and breed a very tiny female with a very tiny male and that is dangerous for mom and pups. I too look through kijiji every now and then and it depresses me all the time.. I think this person should learn about the health issues and concerns and huge responsibility that a tiny dog like that has. Just cause the dog is tiny doesnt mean less work, and i know alot of people that think that a small dog is less work but in reality they are much more work. |

Looking back on it, maybe because we dont know the whole story we shouldnt judge??? *shrug* Then again, Its sad that you care more about the size then the temperment and what not. As you can tell im unsure of what to think of this lol | |

This is all of course just my personal opinion, formed from my own personal experience. I'm not trying to cause a debate. I just really believe that every situation is different and needs to be accessed individually.
