I still feel guilty about our Chloe. (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) She was 16 and had very weak hips and back legs and was falling a lot. She was incontinent. She had become senile I believe. She would cry at the bathroom door when I took a shower and pee in the hallway in front of the door. She would also get herself wedged in between the bed and wall and couldn't figure out how to turn around. We would come in to find her crying in the corner. She would also get very scared when one of our cell phones would ring. She wasn't a little girl, so it made it more difficult for me to care for her. She was like this for over a year before we made the decision. Bless her heart. She was one of the most faithful companions you could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine putting her down if she were in good health.Chloe would have been 19 yrs. old this past August.

| I assume they were euthanized by a vet. Will a vet euthanize a healthy dog(s)? If so, where's the ethics? Sorry Bailee's Mommy, I saw after the fact, that we posted almost the same comment.

|
I didn't say anything. It wasn't worth wasting my breath on this woman. Some people are worth trying to educate, some aren't. A always carry Muzzle (doggie mace) and have to admit I was tempted to use it on her......
LOL you should have ![]() We rescued a 7 yr old Yorkie several years ago at christmas. An older lady had him, she had all his shots done on time all his life, kept his vet appt and grooming appt and then scheduled him to be put to sleep. It was horrible to think she did all his care, he was in great shape, she was just ready to move on in her life without a dog. Thank god the groomer was horrififed and she did insist that the lady give her a chance to find him a home instead of killing him. So the groomer had a friend to email breeders, they emailed 10 breeders, we were the only ones that responded. He was saved, thank god I didn't think OH one of the other breeders will help him out. He would have slipped thru the cracks. He was scared when we got him but warmed up nicely. We placed him in a loving pet home that later adopted one of our Yorkies. Its just amazing what people will do

| That is heartless. It was selfish of her not to consider re homing them . I can't understand why she would think her dogs were to "old" to enjoy walking on a leash, That is just stupid ! I'm sure they would have preferred the leash to the alternative. Then to get a new puppy?! It seems to me she just wanted something new and her older dogs had become an inconvenience.

| I certainly would have thought she could have put at least a little effort into finding a rescue or trying to rehome them. Myself - I prefer to adopt an adult dog and I'm sure there are others out there that do, too. So sad...

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Isn't it weird how life happens, you of all people she told this story to. I know you have mentioned before that because of all her problems, people have suggested that you put Lady down, and this woman puts down two perfectly healthy dogs, because she didn't want to get them use to a leash. How ironic. I don't think this is someone that you will want to have too many conversations with.
