I wondered the same thing. Did you have to bite your tongue off?
I still feel guilty about our Chloe. (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) She was 16 and had very weak hips and back legs and was falling a lot. She was incontinent. She had become senile I believe. She would cry at the bathroom door when I took a shower and pee in the hallway in front of the door. She would also get herself wedged in between the bed and wall and couldn't figure out how to turn around. We would come in to find her crying in the corner. She would also get very scared when one of our cell phones would ring. She wasn't a little girl, so it made it more difficult for me to care for her. She was like this for over a year before we made the decision.

Bless her heart. She was one of the most faithful companions you could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine putting her down if she were in good health.
Chloe would have been 19 yrs. old this past August.
