| So I've had Bentley since November 8th. He's been a 'good' dog for the most part. But lately, he's been getting an attitude. I leave him in a play pin while I'm at work. When I get home from work, I used to pick him up immediately and let him run around and within 5 minutes, he would pee on the carpet. So a friend told me to wait to pick him up until he pees on his pee pad in his pin and then pick him up. So I started doing that. But now, he wimpers for about 10-15 minutes trying to get me to pick him up. Then, he gets mad at me and will pee on the carpet outside of his pee pad. Then he turns around on his bed with his back to me (I'm sitting on the couch) and ignores me. He periodically turns around and looks at me but keeps his back to me. I know he's peeing outside of his pee pad to make me mad. I can tell. Because he always uses his pee pad when he is in his pin. I don't know what to do and I need help. I'm really trying to potty train him to only use it on the pee pad. But he just gets mad at me. Please help!

| I'm not an expert though I'm owned by one adorable yorkie named Canyon. When I get home from work, Canyon is SOOOO excited to see me so when I take him out of his x-pen and we give love loves, then I know soon he'll have to go potty because he may not have gone in a while on his potty pad in his x-pen and plus he's so excited to see me. So after we've said our hello's, etc, I take him to the potty pad or watch him closely for signs of him having to go and if he starts looking like he's searching for a place to go potty, I tell him go potty and he runs to the laundry room where his other potty pad is and only after he's gone pee pee do I let him run free. We've been together long enough and I know his schedule for potty that I pay full attention to those times to ensure that he goes to the right place. |

| Im not an expert either but . . . Why don't you pick him up and take him outside to go potty when you arrive home??? I know it is cold but my new little girl goes out and does this and my older one. I just put a warm sweater on my girls. It is a GOOD habit to get into. If my little one isn't going outside with her big sister then she goes on her blue pad all by herself. I never skip on taking them outside before I leave and after I come home though. Also, when we wake in the morning and before to bed each night mine go potty outside. In MY PERSONAL OPINION, training a yorkie to go potty only on the blue pad has caused problems for me and some friends of mine. Our dogs just started to think they could go anywhere in the house like rugs, beds, etc. I think the blue pads are good as a last resort, for emergencies. Mine still do have accidents once in a while but not even a quarter as much as they did when they weren't being let outside. So thats when a blue pad comes in handy for me. My older one will only go outside to the bathroom, and not on the blue pad. She comes up to me and licks me really fast and then I say "potty outside" and she will lick my hand even faster and then run to the door. So thats how she tells me.

| After not seeing you while your at work, it's only natural that he will be very excited to see you again so he is gonna pee. Maybe you can come in pick him up and say your "hellos" then set him down on the pad and say go potty and after he pees on the pad reward/praise him then get him back out. I'm not sure how old he is but puppies will go alot and easily when excited , so I would have lots of pads around at first for him to give him the best chance of success. Right now with you ignoring him he may not have a clear understanding of what you want him to do or why you wont play with him , so he will try to get your attention any way he can. And he knows peeing at you will get your attention .

| I think that you should just be consistant and Bentley will lose the attitude LOL! Missy knows that she must go pee before she's allowed out of her x-pen. She will go over to her pee pad and squeeze out a drop just to be let out. Once she's gone pee she gets free (supervised) run of the house. It's working well for us. Good Luck!
