Im not an expert either but . . .
Why don't you pick him up and take him outside to go potty when you arrive home??? I know it is cold but my new little girl goes out and does this and my older one. I just put a warm sweater on my girls. It is a GOOD habit to get into. If my little one isn't going outside with her big sister then she goes on her blue pad all by herself. I never skip on taking them outside before I leave and after I come home though. Also, when we wake in the morning and before to bed each night mine go potty outside.
In MY PERSONAL OPINION, training a yorkie to go potty only on the blue pad has caused problems for me and some friends of mine. Our dogs just started to think they could go anywhere in the house like rugs, beds, etc. I think the blue pads are good as a last resort, for emergencies. Mine still do have accidents once in a while but not even a quarter as much as they did when they weren't being let outside. So thats when a blue pad comes in handy for me. My older one will only go outside to the bathroom, and not on the blue pad. She comes up to me and licks me really fast and then I say "potty outside" and she will lick my hand even faster and then run to the door. So thats how she tells me. |
