| Wow I would be upset too, just because they weren't honest with you at least. If it were me, I know how I am with animals, and couldn't imagine someone telling me I'm not good enough for them, so I would definitely want their honest reasoning rather than them lieing about it. At least you found someone else to go with.

| Well it certainly doesn't seem to make any sense, but ultimately, it's the breeder's decision, regardless of the reason. Maybe she decided for some reason that she didn't think you would be a good match and thought that telling you the puppy was spoken for was a nicer way of putting it. (I have done that before.) This is a long shot, but is it possible that she knew you were a member of YT and that had something to do with her decision? (It could and does happen.) |

| I'd be angry too, unless the breeder has a legitimate and truthful explanation for this. You certainly have the right to ask for one. Personally, I hate to by lied to. If the breeder did in fact lie about it, then imagine what else she may lie about. You may have just escaped an even worse outcome, from dealing with a dishonest breeder. Good luck with your new puppy in the spring. Now you have even more time for shopping for goodies to spoil him/her with.

| Perhaps you were taking the wrong approach with these breeders? It may just have been her way of turning you down without stirring up too much drama. Anyway, it's a moot point now. Congrats on finding your baby. You'll have tons of time to plan and shop for her now.

| I am not sure why this happened to you, but hopefully there is a good reason. If it is truly bothering you deep down this much, then maybe you should send the breeder an email and ask why she made that decision? That's probably what I would do if I wanted to know the real answer, otherwise you might always wonder. I know you have a very specific way that you would like your puppy to be, which is good because as I told you before, you SHOULD be picky since this baby will be with you a long time. Maybe she was afraid that you wouldn't be happy with this little girl and didn't know how to tell you? I'm just shooting in the dark because you'll never know unless you ask. Honestly though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You found the perfect puppy and that's what matters. |

| Senior Yorkie Talker | That happened to me after my dog Shelby died aI needed a new baby to love,so we called around and got the run-around from plenty. The breeder where we got Shelby claimed that she had no puppies and gave us aname of another woman,we called her and she said her dog had just had puppies and we booked one,she refused to take a deposit and after 6 weeks of waiting and many phone calls we called her again....she had sold the puppy right from under us.I was devastated and could not beleive it...she made us wait and wait and wait and then did that.....some are obviously just in it for the money!!!

Here's my two cents but I'm no expert...to the OP, as hard as it is, consider this a blessing in disguise. It's sooo important to have a breeder you can trust, as you may end up keeping in contact with them long after the puppy comes home. I know my puppy's breeder is someone I can still call with any questions or concerns anytime if needed. And I think anyone should be able to feel that way with the breeder they choose. You might have to wait a few months for a puppy, but it will be worth it to have an trustworthy breeder. A dishonest one can cause problems before and long after the puppy comes home (dog with health or behavioral problems costing $$$ over the long term, etc). Congrats on the impending arrival of your new puppy!Oh and if it were me, I would email the breeder to get an explanation about everything. I know its not super important in the big scheme of things but I guess it might keep me wondering what happened otherwise...

| I'm sorry that your search for a puppy has been a frustrating time for you....it's not quite the same situation as you, but when I was looking for a yorkie I came up against alot of prob....I at first wanted to rescue but the shelter wouldn't place a dog with us because I have young kids. I also had trouble finding a breeder who would sell me a puppy for the same reason. Even though I respected their reasoning it was still frustrating to me. Now though I'm glad it took so long because I have Twinkle - the best yorkie in the world (to me!), I'm sure this is just fates way of making sure you get the best yorkie in the world too! xxx xxx

| There are breeders out there who don't like the drama of the online world and let's face it, YT has it's fair share at times. They don't want their names or programs associated with it in any way, shape or form and are not privy to the idea of having their personal lives discussed at leisure here. I say this because I personally know some people for whom the theory holds true. Honestly, I can't say that I blame them one bit. |

| LOL...I know Dee, I generally speak my mind as well, but I know sometimes giving a response such as, "they are all spoken for" is just easier or a nicer way to deny someone. The alternative being (if the person is a member of YT, for example) being truthful and then getting blasted for it here....? (Generally speaking.) I mean, this thread in itself is kind of an example of WHY some people would shy away from placing a dog with a member of ANY online community, is it not? Bottom line is, it's the breeders choice regarding whom they place their dogs with and their right to be picky about the potential homes, for whatever reason. That's just the way it is. Well, I would normally agree with you, but she never checked out my references or asked about them and I had no problem with any other breeder. Each breeder I spoke with had good feelings about placing their puppy with me. I am the one who is picky with finding the right breeder and puppy. She asked where I lived and asked to give a little background about myself. So, I compiled all the information I got from most Breeder's questionaires and gave her a synopsis of my history with yorkies, offered to give references, my lifestyle, work, all about my fiance, my parents, his parents, their homes, our home, the children that would come around .....etc. I can understand that maybe she didnt think that my home life or lifestyle was good enough for her puppy. To each their own. But, to know all this about me and nothing about my client and tell them the truth??!?!?!?! I would write to her, but I do not even think she would respond back. Dishonesty with me is a deal breaker in whatever you do!!! I can't stand when someone lies and I certainly do not like it when they drag you along. You know that I am waiting for this puppy, so why would you give me false hopes? Its not fair and its not right. The sad part is she always signed off "blessings" and then her name. What blessings are you giving when your treating people like this. I dont know what her ultimate reason was, but like I told her, so long as this puppy finds a good home, that is all that matters........I have the breeder that I am happy with and I know that she is the one that will be part of my family and she will bring me this wonderful gift in early spring which will definitely be worth the wait and all this aggravation...lol!! | |
