I totally agree!!! I didn't mean to insinuate that EVERYONE was mean or tactless.... There were alot of other nice posts that actually tried to answer her question! I was going to try to PM her...but it appears that she closed out her YT account...so nothing can be done to help bring her back...unless someone else has any ideas?? And I'm not going to harp on this subject either....I just felt I had to address that "thread gone wrong"....and I do understand that ALOT of people had good intentions...it's just too bad that it went so sour!!

It was a moderator. They must have said something out of line or against YT rules.

I don't see how this is constructive? I mean it seems like people are making those posters who were trying to inform the op out to be devils...that they are wrong wrong wrong---and it is not true. They are nice, passionate people--- how they approached it is debateable...but i don't like this 'piling on' on the 'regular' posters who are consistently helpful. JMO. And I *really* don't want to argue. I like YT... and this is not really necessary. It won't accomplish anything.

| I read most of the thread, and am sorry that the OP felt she had to leave. She came on here looking for the support and opinions of fellow yorkie lovers and was bombarded by very judgmental opinions. It's too bad that she didn't get a chance to see that, most of the time, this is a great place! There are spoilsports in every walk of life, and this forum isn't any different. I was looking forward to seeing which pup she chose and watching her grow, here on YT!

And noone is arguing with anyone here..so not sure what your talking about there...People are expressing their feelings and opinions on the subject at hand. And I respect everyone's right to do that. And what it accomplishes is tries to convey to all the need for tact, when we're commenting on different threads...so that maybe it won't happen so often..or at all. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here in my feelings....And in no way am I dissing any single person here...I am dissing the way that thread took a bad turn...and kept going even after the OP left..... I appreciate ALL YT'ers for their advice and help...I've asked for plenty of it....and have given my own opinion on alot of things...that's what this forum is all about.

| wow i missed this whole thing but i have to say I wish i had known about this place before i got my two yorkies as i would have made better choices as I am about 20,000 in vet bills because I did not do my homework at all. I wish I would have had people to educate me on better choices I have one from puppy mill lambriar kennels as he is from a pet store my first dog and he almost died of pancreatitis and has ibd. My girl yorkie is from a backyard breeder and she has mild luxating patella in one leg, horrible allergies (atopica dermatitis), hypothyroid, and mvd and my maltese is a rescue from petfinder and has done well but has periodontal disease so it is definitely not easy having 3 with health issues and had i had people warn me about things i might have avoided some health issues. There are no guarantees but you can at least decrease the odds of it by getting to a reputable breeder who is breeding for the betterment of the breed. Mine are all going on 5 and i joined 55 dog groups to learn and educate myself but it was after the fact and i feel it is so important to know upfront as i was shocked at cost of vet care and how things can turn so quickly with these little guys. I am so thankful i can afford to care for them and devote alot of time to them as i do not have skin kids but I wish i was much more informed. I feel so bad that this person left as i was attacked on another forum not yorkietalk when i first joined and was hurt but i stuck it out and have now made some good friends so sometimes out of bad can come good things if you give it a chance. I think what is so hard is we are so passionate about our dogs and what we believe that it can come across the wrong way in emails and posts when people are not meaning to so i always try to take things in stride and not get offended as it is just one persons opinion and we all ultimately have to gather the info we get from others and make our own decisions on what we feel is best for our dogs. I love that i can get alot of opinions and then take to vet or specialist and narrow it down and do what is best for my dog. It is hard being out there on your own and not having others around you who are as passionate about their dogs to help when things go wrong. I am so glad i found groups like this and yahoo to help me learn things to better care for my 3. |

I was trying not to be active in that thread---because I'm very much against puppy mills---and I get so annoyed when someone won't be open minded enough to look at the facts. Yeah it is the person's choice to get the dog where she gets it from---but does that make it right? I mean (potentially) giving money to people to be cruel to animals doesn't sound like a right thing. Nor do I think that it is right to keep quiet. Buying a pup from a bad breeder has serious financial and emotional reprecussions and I think that people here wanted to prevent that. This is why that issue is important to me... But this is just a mb--we shouldn't get personally upset or anything like that. We need to chill.

| I own a puppymill puppy that I bought from a pet store because I was uneducated. It is SO hard to watch my little pug dug suffer from genetic disorders. It bothers me more to see her suffer than to have to pay the pricey vet bills. I worry that soon my vet is going to say it's time to euthanize her, and she is only age 7. Maybe this is why some of the posters were so passionate about what they had to say. They may be speaking from experience.

No Longer a Member | I am just going to say this. I am big time against puppy mills, its disgusting and until the Government does something to stop it, it will go on and on and on. I have advocated against it for years and years now. Now with that said............... What about the puppies in those mills, what about them????? What did they do wrong that they don't deserve a loving home and loving family, do they deserve to live in filth and never see a warm bed or a kind hand or soft nuzzle. What about the puppy that because no one would get it, it lies in stench and cant walk because it grows up in a cage that is 4x4, What about the puppy that all it wanted was a warm meal or a pat on the head. Those puppy mill puppies are Yorkies too, maybe not high bred, high dollar babies but they will love you with more love than you can ever know if they are just given the chance . I myself cannot judge anyone for getting a puppy out of a puppy mill. Atleast THAT PUPPY has a chance at life the way it should be and not stuck in flea infested dung, stench, and filth for the rest of its little life. JMO |
