Get out and Vote People

We just voted. We only had to wait a couple of mins. Only 478 people had voted in our area so far isnt that sad?

Of course I had problems (Grrrr. Thankfully I had my voter registration name) but they were resolved and I was able to vote. The line for people having problems was just as long as the line for those waiting to vote.

For absentee ballots (as opposed to early voting) they typically only count them right away if they would change the outcome. Say Canidate X wins by 5% and only 1% of voters voted absentee. (They know how many people request absentee ballots.) It wouldn't change the outcome of the election. Also, results will be posted but not "certified" until all votes are in and counted. I believe absentees only need to be postmarked by today, like taxes, and they will be counted later. Our friend ran for congress last election and it was SUPER close so we did have to wait a few weeks for the "certified" results and he ended up loosing by like 1%. They were pretty close though even with the unofficial results, we knew he barely lost but we didn't find out by exactly how many votes until they certified the results.

I've been involved in a lot of small local elections and you would be amazed by what you learn just by volunteering for a campaign, any campaign, even if it's just your local rep or referendum.

Most military usually do vote republican, but, their votes should be counted also, and if we have to wait, then we should wait..They're the ones over there protecting our country, and there votes should be just as important as the rest of ours

Well, I got down there and got my vote in YEAH! They were out of stickers, but, we're going to run to Starbucks in a bit and get our free coffee(I've never had a starbucks). Their ad says you just need to say you voted, so, that's what I'm gonna do..

They were talking about ballots from our soldiers in Iraq etc, is that how it works for them too? It sounded like theirs aren't opened or counted till they are arrive in the US.

I'm not crazy about the plain coffee at Starbucks but I do love the mocha's and Chai Tea Lattes!

It's my understanding that the soldiers vote absentee. So yes, absentee ballots are counted last but they are counted before the results are "certified" a few weeks after the election. They just aren't reported in tonight's results, which is why i was trying to explain that they know that 1% or whatever it is of voters requested absentee ballots so if a candidate wins by more than that % they just report the unofficial results anyway.

Same here with me. My husband and I went down at 7:30am we only had 5 people in front of us and I was done by 7:48 though I did have to wait for my husband a tiny bit, he is a slow reader and he had to read all the Issue 5 &6 information to make sure he voted what he wanted The people working the "lines" told us that it had been slow today, but Yesterday they had lines that went outside the building, some people had 1 1/2 hours wait at some point yesterday. I hate lines for anything, so I was so glad that we did not have one

Well, I drink black folgers every morning, so, need to see the difference of the expensive stuff and my stuff.. I do like lattes, we have another place that is like a starbucks that sells that stuff..now, those caramel and chocolate ones with whipped cream are to die for..

I voted! No waiting in line either! There are a few props that I'm incredibly passionate about. If one, in particular, doesn't pass I will raise hell lol.

Okay thanks, I feel better now. They made it sound like the ballots were not going to be here in time to be counted at all on tv. Geez!
