Omg how scary... I do notice that Mocha is ruling over Lulu (shihtzu) but as rough as they are with each other, they're the best of friends..

Crate them, pen them, put them into seperate rooms, what ever you have to do to insure their well being. Just because they are well behaved while you, their pack leader, is there, does not mean they will not fight when you are gone. I have yorkies, and I don't know how many times I have had people say they were only gone a little while, but by the time they returned home, one was killed by the other. I have 10 dogs, and when I leave they are seperated into different areas or pens, or even some are in crates. The only pairs that are together, are a fixed male and a fixed female. I have seen one turn on another too many times to take any chances, and intact females are the worse ones for attacking others.
Great post and so very true! Even Yorkies will kill other Yorkies if unsupervised or separated.

Your friend must be devastated... We are sending prayers to her and hope she recovers from such a tragic loss and does not blame herself too much..

this is pretty bad...but I would never leave a 15-20 lb, already boisterous dog with a little yorkie...
The same size, I do---as long as they have good temperment.
Should I not?
My Izze is the sweetest little bumble bee. She has separation anxiety and she seems to be comforted by my Molly poodle (she's a very calm dog, non violent). Is it okay to leave them together?

This is very, very upsetting, and I am stunned that the three larger dogs were left , in close contact, or promixity to the smaller dogs. That is what confuses me.
Esp. after the one dog was found dead a week before, the others were killed.
I do not have a problem with a larger bred dog, but, to have them mixed with toy breeds , and left unattended is trouble.
I think one lrg. started in then the rest of them joined in on the attack. Imo, all of this could have been entirely prevented.
I get very nervous and scared when the neighbors Min. Snouzer comes colse to my Little Suzi. The mini is thre times as big as my Yorkie , and sometimes is wanting tp "play" with my Yorkie. Absolutely not, going to happen.
Even though the dog is docile, you never know if given the chance, what she will do.

That is so horrible! I have never heard of sammler dogs doing this. Scary! I always seperate my 11 pound pom from the yorkies when I'm not home but the 3 yorkies are all together.

OMG!!!!! Is your friend on YT???

That is so terrible!!! I can't even imagine!!!! Your poor friend...my heart goes out to her!!!

I have 2 large dogs...and they are always gentle with Daizy however when I'm not home she is put in an entirely seperate area away from my larger dogs. NOt that I'm worried necesarily...but I just don't want them playing if I can't supervise...just in case!!

I hate to sound cold but as bad as I feel for your friend, I would have a hard time entrusting another dog to her.

Cry Omg that scares me....

If anyone read my other post, about Better late than never, that I just posted..my friend Gayle's dog Sally is a Boston....I had brought Tasha there two weeks ago to have a playdate...we tried to introduce them a month ago but Sally was too strong and it scared Tasha...so we put Sally outside and let their other dog Joy in..she is a lab/boxer mix and they got along fantastic because Joy was not in her face...well two weeks ago when i brought Tasha there to be with Sally again, they were getting along fine (Sally is a few months older) but Sally got too rambunctious and all of a sudden the playing turned into fighting and Sally had Tasha by the neck..Gayle tried to pull Sally off her and had her but she wouldn't let Tasha go...Tasha was fighting back, not backing down but Sally is like one big 18 lb muscle...if we hadn't have been right there who knows (but I would never have left them alone anyway...) luckily we realize that this won't work so we won't ever try it again....

this is SO SAD and I can't even begin to imagine how this poor person feels to come home and find that horrible scene....I keep Tasha in a crate where nothing can happen to her.. she gets along well with the other two and the Lab is very protective of her, but you never ever know...OMG I just can't believe it! My prayers and thoughts go out to her... HUGS :O(

That is sad. I wouldn't put them down though i would put them in a home with no other pets. Maybe they were jealous of the other dogs, poor babies. I feel sad for your friend

Default anything can happen at ANY time....

Anything is possible, at any time, for any reason. Dogs will be dogs, and we all know that terriers have that thing about them, otherwise they would not have that name! They are a strong-will sturdy and fierce little breed of dog that does not realize how little they are...and their quick movement may be part of what gets them in trouble...pound for pound, Terriers can be more fearless than Rotties and the other high jaw-torque breeds...and the fact that they don't back down may add to it.

Most folks have a funny idea about what makes a dog "vicious" and I think it is a term that is misused and over-used. With hormones flying around, it's something you can liken to rioting amongst humans. Two people have a fight and the next thing you know, rocks are flying and sirens blaring...
Very very unfortunate but when you leave your house, it may help to ask yourself if it is worth coming home to a bloodbath...which of course it isn't..so take appropriate steps to prevent the possibility and close the barn door before the horses get out.

So sorry for her loss, pointing fingers doesn't help; we all need to be responsible for our babies

I dont know why she left them together after the first killing.
It's not the dog's fault's at all there just being dog's. In the end it's the Owners responsiblity to make sure each pet is safe before leaving home.

It's sad that this had to happen.
These are both wonderfully well put posts. That's all I can really say. It's unfortunate that something like this had to happen but I honestly feel it could have been prevented. I am heartbroken for her loss, as well as the shock the other animals must be experiencing. Mainly, though, I am heartbroken for the two Boston Terriers. I sure hope they find good homes and aren't put to sleep.

Cry to euthanize or not to euthanize...

Ok, I just have to say this...I really hope these dogs don't get put down because of something that wasn't their fault. All too often it seems folks use euthanization as a way out of things, and right away people think "vicious" and want to put them to sleep. Fact is, we can't change any of it now. I also don't understand why dogs would be left with others if there was already an issue of a killing in the household..doesn't make sense but I am gonna go out on a limb and say they probably didn't think it would happen again in a million years. Unless we are in that situation, we don't know, and every situation is different. PLEASE FIND YOUR DOGS GOOD HOMES before jumping to the conclusion to put them down. It is not the dogs fault, they are following instinct, whether it was brought about by hormones or what have you. Most TRULY vicious dogs are that way because they were abused, and of those that are not, they have some kind of medical issue causing it (such as a brain tumor or disease). Euthanizing a dog is not the answer.
