I'm with you! I initially chose not to read this thread based on the title but my curiosity got the best of me...
What a sad sad story. I don't mean to be harsh on the friend, as I'm sure it must have been such a nightmare for her....but I have to say it was very irresponsible and cruel of her...on so many levels - not properly protecting them, wanting to breed them?! At the end of the day, humans are responsible for our own domestic animals. I would hope that someone with so many dogs would know better. I mean, is she a pet owner or one who is dedicated to breeding? Either way, she should
not be breeding whatsoever! Those poor poor innocent dogs. I cannot get the imagery out of my head either. It's too saddening and horrific!

Crate them, pen them, put them into seperate rooms, what ever you have to do to insure their well being. Just because they are well behaved while you, their pack leader, is there, does not mean they will not fight when you are gone. I have yorkies, and I don't know how many times I have had people say they were only gone a little while, but by the time they returned home, one was killed by the other. I have 10 dogs, and when I leave they are seperated into different areas or pens, or even some are in crates. The only pairs that are together, are a fixed male and a fixed female. I have seen one turn on another too many times to take any chances, and intact females are the worse ones for attacking others. |
Very good post!

Super good reminder to us all to do our due diligence and protect our furbabies.
I have a spayed girl and neutered boy. On occasion I hear them rough playing while I'm in the shower. Only one time, the sounds got a little scary where I was slightly concerned. But they finished 'playing' by the time I was done my 20 minute shower. Whenever I'm not home though, my baby girl is still being potty trained, so she's crated. I would now consider keeping her crated even after she's potty trained...
