| Remember the taco bell dog? I remember seeing ads in the paper under pets for "Taco Bell Chihuahuas" when that was popular.

| [QUOTE=Nancy1999;2261400]QUOTE] We are all allowed to make miatakes and move on. Rubbing it in is not needed as I tend not to make many. Enjoy while you can as today is my mistake day. But this does not stop the issuse of dogs getting bought cause of this show nor where they will come from to fill the need. Does it? You really think a free magazine with a stuffed chi going to change a whole lot? There are dogs in harms way and we are quibbling over a magazine hummm?? Seriously?!? JL

I think you are missing the point that the magazine is trying to educate the public, and education is what it's all about.

| Disney has made a lot of movies with dogs in it and I happen to enjoy watching them. People will always do stupid things. So the rest of us should have to pay for their mistake as well? I do think there will be more Chi's found in shelters after the movie and I feel bad that this will happen but the solution to not making the movie at all isn't a good solution either. The public just needs educated more and I would like to see Disney put a disclaimer in the movies about the ownership of a dog is not to be taken lightly. I just don't understand how someone can see a dog on tv or with a celebrity and all the sudden want one without knowing anything about them. We are talking about a living, breathing animal that takes a lot of responsibility to care for. People should have common sense but unfortunately a lot of people don't.

Been a ton of stuffed dalmations and lassies and benji and snow dogs and other TV dogs later and we have no puppy mills. No aggressive damaltion being put down. what they miss doing is the free magazine that will fix it all. Eddie the jack was the other dog I was thinking of.. lots of jacks in trouble after that show started... everyone wanted a jack and they are not an easy dog sometimes. People only see what they want to see... dogs are things to own and to use and take care of as they will. Living breathing play toys and dress up items to to many. JL

| Apparently Disney is taking some responsibility for the likely outcome in surge of Chihuahua sales that will later be abandoned. I just found this article. Here is an excerpt: It turns out that several of the Chihuahuas in the film were rescue dogs found in shelters in Los Angeles and Mexico, according to Disney's promotional materials. The lead dog, known in the movie as Papi --the face of the movie on all the posters around town -- was rescued from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter and lives with his trainer.Full article: Chihuahua movie protest | L.A. Unleashed | Los Angeles Times So hopefully this will help. But shelters none the less are gearing up. The Dalmatian problem was huge for shelters. I still haven't found anything about Disney donating to them. There's already a huge problem with Chihuahuas in shelters in Los Angeles.

| Months after the Taco Bell commercials came out there were many Chihuahua's in pet stores, ads, and shelters. I got my Chihuahua, Delsi, may she rest in peace, back in 1992 (long before any commercial with this breed) so I was more than a little sick and tired of almost everyone one we passed saying "yo queerer Taco Bell" I bet I heard that a thousand times and got so sick of it!!! Anyway.......I don't think any commercial or movie should be banned just because it has certain breeds and so on. Focus on banning all the guns and killing movies instead.

| My frustration comes from the fact that today I got a back handed offer of a deaf brain damaged Border collie through a neighbour that knows a BYB breeder that had a BC cause she like them in babe and snow dogs and thought it be fun to breed. I got the offer cause I am able to manage dogs with issuse, She thought she could back me into a corner and make me take it... yeah deaf is one thing but brain damaged and other concerns cause it not seen a vet is another. Here is this 6 week old puppy that is more like 4 weeks and no chance at a life cause some fool though a dog on show was cute. ( I have one I fight to keep alive as it is not able to do another now) I see this over and over and over and over. I have held and worked with puppymill dogs that have no chance at a normal life. I have seen one nasty dalmation.. ok more then one but he was ugly. I have a dog of my own that is mess and I love but has limited chance at normal cause of it start in a BYB and although not a movie dog is a top ten breed. I did not choice for the fact it was top ten. My tempers been somewhat cranky today and I have said words to a person off line and not in the group I never use. I am not into banning anything...oh ask me what I think of breed bans....LOL So the dogs came from rescue great but where are they now, do we know? JL

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I wouldn't boycott the movie just because people can make decisions for themselves and if they are irresponsible enough to get their children a dog when they cannot care for it then that is their own decision and fault. A movie isn't going to make someone do something. I actually like the fact that there is a dog movie, i love movies about dogs, there have been plenty of them before, as long as no dogs were harmed in the making of it i don't see anything wrong. It looks like a fun movie, i cant wait to see it.
