| This is the icing on the cake for me!!! Lately we have been having some evening problems w/Autumn. It seems once it is time for bed she feels the need to pounce on my husband and lick his face endlessly (and of course when it first started we thought it was so cute) but then it progressed into 12am 2am or anytime she felt like it! Then it turned into barking at anything and jumping off the bed which in return would start Blaze up and Chance so we would be waking up 5 - 6 times a night w/them barking at NOTHING!!!! It had gotten so bad that my next door neighbor told me that she could here them because we have all had our window's open! (we don't even live in an apartment or condo - so that makes it worse) Then for about 10 days she has been waking us up atleast 3 times per night wanting to go out - the problem is she is not doing anything, just sniffing the grass looking for the Mole that we have in the yard! So you could imagine how annoying that is. Well lastnight, she woke me up at 1am and again at 3:30 wanting to go out so of course I put her out she does nothing but bark and try to dig at the mole). At 4 am I hear my daughter's hamster running in his wheel so of course she starts barking at that, she is gone for about 5 minutes or so, comes back up jumps on my arm and I feel that her belly is wet. I have a strange feeling that she has peed somewhere so I get up to look! (Which is never an issue for her - she is completely housetrained) Well low and behold she took it upon herself to get on my cream colored leather couch and pee all over it and my silk pillow's after she had been out twice and did NOTHING!!!! I am in need of some assistance, what should I do? Its to the point that none of us (including our children) are sleeping through the night because of all the barking and running around. Should I start putting them in their crate at night, should I just put Autumn in the crate, what should I do???? Any help would be so greatly appreciated (sorry for making this long - but I need some YT help) Amie

| I would put her in a crate in a seperate room. She will cry for a few nights but will get used to it. I love my baby to death but, sleeping in my room is not an option. He stays on guard all night.

| I agree with putting her to bed somewhere else for awhile. She will fuss a lot in the beginning, but she'll get used to it, and after awhile (days, weeks or months, depending) you could invite her back into your room at night.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | They do get into a pattern that is hard to brake. Could it be that since your windows are open , she can hear something that you cant? Max started doing the same thing every night, and would always go to sniff the same spot , I found out there was a cat that came every night to sleep on my bench. I moved the bench to the back yard, and Max stopped barking and wanting to go out. Good luck, those sleepless night are draining.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Could she be reacting to the hamster even though you can't hear it? Or has the hamster always been there?

| I know that it is starting to get dark early, but I think you should walk her on a leash just before dark sets in and get her real tired for bed |

As far has her licking your hubby (lol) Sophie wants to do that to. I keep her in a crate by my bed until six in the morning. I let her potty before bed and I will not open her crated until six. She goes out to potty and then gets in bed with us. We had to scold her a little over trying to wake hubby up and she now does really well with our routine. Unless she sleeps to much in the evening and wakes up super early. Hope this helps.

| It sounds like she needs a nice, long walk in the evening and I also think with the windows being open that she hears things that wake her up and cause all of this. I could never sleep with the windows open anymore as much as I would love it. It's too noisy here. Good luck.

| Thank you to everyone who responded! I totally agree w/the walk but we started doing that months ago, we walk them everynight unless its raining and we will continue until it gets too cold. This has been going on longer then the hamster has been with us, she does none of this during the day only at night when we are all trying to sleep. I am not sure if I should start putting all three in their crate at night or just her for now. I know if I put just her she is going to bark and everytime she starts to bark it will set Blaze and Chance off and then they are going to start up - so then I feel like I am accomplishing nothing but at the same time I don't want to punish everyone. I am really torn and not sure what to do!!!!

| You might have to put her in her crate in your daughters room with the door partially shut and your door shut with your 2 other boys with you. If she does bark, hopefully the boys won't hear it, but hopefully with your daughter there she won't bark because she won't be alone. If that does not work, then maybe leave her downstairs in a bathroom or the kitchen in her crate. I know it sounds horrible, but thats no fun for you or for her to be woken up so many times! Good Luck!

| I'd put her in an expen attached to the front of the crate and put a wee-wee pad down & a blanket over the crate and comfy bedding inside. I'd put her in the kitchen or somewhere that has no carpet and no other people sleeping in it. We didn't sleep with ours for a couple of years, then tried it. One snores and one got diarrhea when we got the third puppy. It was the last straw. They are back in their bed in the breakfast area. It works better for all of us and we are able to get the sleep we need. Give your baby a few drops of Rescue Remedy 45 minutes before bed time. It's all natural and really calms them.

| I have a soft playpen next to our bed, but they sleep with us most of the time, Shayna and Phoebe are great but Melody she starting getting up in the middle of the night to kiss hubby and very early in the morning too, she will not stop, I put them in their pen again and after couple nights hubby want them back in the bed so will see how long this is going to last. Mine use the pads so is easy, for us they will go outside too, if I take them but they are use to pads, I think yorkidaze give you a good advice, she will not like it at first but she will get use to it. I hope Last edited by PANAMA69; 09-30-2008 at 02:12 PM. |
