| Here ya go, a list of the USDA registered breeders. I am assuming this is always 'up to date.' http://permanent.access.gpo.gov/webs...ists/lista.pdf |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | To sell commercially a breeder must be USDA licensed...not being listed as a commerical breeder doesn't necessarily mean they are a reputable breeder.

| OMG!!! My Breeder is on this list. I feel so horrible. My husband bought me a puppy from this lady for Christmas and she died 14 days later. She sent me Mia (who very fortunately is healthy) as a replacement pup. I have to show hubby this when he gets home |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Those aren't necessarily all dog breeders on that list.

| True, and I am sure that the millers in this world are not limited to just this list. I know of several who are not on it. I'm sure this is only a small percentage of the millers in existance. I've heard claims that just because you are a USDA registered breeder, that it doesn't neccessarily mean you are a miller or unethical, but I have yet to run accross one who doesn't fit the mold, IMO. The very requirements of USDA breeders themselves already tell me that if you are metting those requirements, I want nothing to do with you. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 09-05-2008 at 09:56 AM. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I looked up some of the breeders on the list, and they raise horses, some pigs. I think anytime you sell a certain number of offspring of any animal, you have to be listed with the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA has certain minimum standards for livestock, and many people don't feel that dogs should be considered livestock, and the minimum standards aren't good enough. One of the USDA rules for dogs is that they must be kept in a separate outside kennel, and many breeders don't like this ruling because it means you are unable to keep the dogs in the house.
