I looked up some of the breeders on the list, and they raise horses, some pigs. I think anytime you sell a certain number of offspring of any animal, you have to be listed with the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA has certain minimum standards for livestock, and many people don't feel that dogs should be considered livestock, and the minimum standards aren't good enough. One of the USDA rules for dogs is that they must be kept in a separate outside kennel, and many breeders don't like this ruling because it means you are unable to keep the dogs in the house. |
