| Well said. Their size does by no means determine how cute they are. Sometimes we don't want to admit it, but in my town the yorkies i've seen just are not cute.

| I know you can guess by looking at parents but it is kind of a guess I think. I purchased Bella from a lady who bred her two pets, and I saw both of them in person. The father was quite a bit larger I would guess at a good 10 lbs or more. The mother was probably 7 lbs. I also saw one puppy from a litter they had the year before and she was probably 7-8 lbs. Both puppies from Bella's litter were about the same size, one had a more fuzzy coat and Bella's appeared more silky to me. The people really didn't know how much the pups weighed they were guesstimating about 2 1/2 lbs at 11 weeks. When I got Bella to the vet 36 hours later she weighed about 2lbs 3 oz's. I took her to the vet Saturday, she is 14 weeks and she weighed exactly 2 lbs 14 oz. By that figure the charts say she should weigh between 5 & 6 lbs but by looking at her parents I expect a little bigger. As long as she works well with my Chihuahuas that weigh from 2 1/2 to 6 lbs I will be happy with her no matter what. It will be interesting to see how she turns out.

| At first Ella was so tiny. We wanted her to grow more. She jumped off the bed twice and popped her knee out of place. That's how i found out she had a mild case of LP. I am deff. glad she got bigger. Now people can see her. BTW little Samy is so cute. I want to steal him. He he. =]

| ♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | I was determined to get a bigger yorkie second time round. Tia weighs 5lb 5 oz and is so delicate where as Olly is 6lb 5 and still seems small but he is more sturdy looking and at 11 mths old Im hoping hes going to grow some more.

| Zena weighs 8 pounds. Her parents weigh 6.2 and 6.5 pounds (saw them both before we got Zena). She was the runt of a litter of four girls. She is the largest of the family! Go figure. I suppose just like humans, a dog's adult weight can vary. I think 8 pounds is perfect, not too big and not too small. She has strength and stamina and is not some frail "rat looking dog" as some folks prefer to call tiny toy dogs. My mother is 5'7" and my father 5' 5". I am 6'2", my brother is 6'3". One cannot predict what one's offspring will weigh at adulthood. I suppose the same goes for dogs. Last edited by Chili Dawg; 04-06-2010 at 10:07 PM. |

| 9 pounds isnt to big, as long as he is healthy thats all that matters, be thankful he isnt realy small or else she might have some problems. Last edited by xoxJuliexox; 04-07-2010 at 11:48 AM. |

| Winston is 2 yrs and weighs 6 pounds, we just got Chance, he was rehomed and is almost 8 months and weighs 10 pounds. Winston is taller than Chance. Chance has bigger head, longer body, and lower to the ground than Winston. Winston likes to cuddle, Chance wants to kiss you to death!! lol. I think he is just thankful he finally has a real home. lol |

| Hi, I posted back in 2008 about our puppy Ginger Bear's size! Well, Ginger is now 4 years old, beautiful, smart, loving, playful & all these attributes are tightly packed into a perfectly shaped and marked 14 pound Yorkie body! Ginger Bear fast walks with me every day for 6 miles and has yet to arrive home exhausted! She is an Olympic digger...dug a real tunnel underneath our concrete decking surrounding the pool and consistently enlarges every chipmunk hole she finds in our yard! Imagine my grooming habits in order to keep her pristine and silky! ha She goes with me everywhere, including school to visit the children. I wouldn't trade her size for smaller EVER! When others greet her, they invariably say to me,"She is beautiful, what breed is she?" I say, "Yorkie." They say," Oh, she is so large!" I say, "Like the original Yorkies in Yorkshire, England...she is a direct descendant!" Ha Enjoy our chunk-e-o's...they are priceless! Last edited by janicecue; 04-01-2013 at 11:01 AM. |
