| Do you think my yorkie will be terrified of my Golden? My little guy has been all yorkies besides his litter mate. I am worried he might be so scared of my Golden retreiver. She is such a loving dog, my gentle giant but one of my friends asked what if he doesn't like her? I know the golden not liking him is not going to happen because she LOVES all other dogs. I think because I have yorkie on the brain and he's coming home in 4 weeks I'm inventing things to worry about, lol. Anyone else have a retriever and a yorkie together? Can you share with me how their relationship is? |

| I never had a Golden retriever, but my mom had a Rottweiler when I got Duke and he was fine around her. She was a calm and gentle dog with a big bark He would try to play with her and when she would bark he would roll onto his back because it scared him He never had any problems with her though

| Hi, I don't have a golden but I do have a 120lb chocolate labs, does that count? anyways him and Jovie are the best of buds, and were from the moment I brought Jovie home, we call him (scooby) the babysitter, if Jovie wonders out of his eyesite, he starts barking and if she doesn't come he will go after her, its amazing, he should have been a female dog because he acts just like a momma protecting his baby. She even sleeps on his back alot, too cute. Most goldens have the same personality as labs do, so you should have no problem, the only thing that worried me when Jovie was small, that scoob would accidently roll over on her. It sounds like you have a very loving dog so you should have no problem, just watch them for a few days to make sure, and then let the new loving, friendship begin, good luck. |

| I have a golden and a lab. From the moment I brought Ranger home I made sure they knew to be gentle. They were so in awe of his tiny self they were very careful. Ranger loves them! He and my golden are almost like mother son. Lila (golden) plays with him so great. I try not to let Ranger and Nitro (lab) play because he is so big. When we practice with Nitro (we do Splash Dog comps) Ranger gets SO mad and wants to join right in! I love the big dog little dog relationships. The big dogs really watch out for them. The only thing you have to worry about is your yorkie will grow up thinking he's big and that can get them into trouble (like they need any help!!) Congrats on your pup!

| You shouldn't have any problems. Goldens are wonderful dogs. My pup has been around all sorts of big dogs and loves them all and vice versa....labs, retrievers, rottweillers, spaniels....They will be great together just you wait and see.....

| I have two Yorkies in addition to a 7 month old Westie, a 14 YO mixed breed female terrier (about 35#) and a 10 YO 75# male pitty. Katie (the terrier) wouldn't have a thing to do with the pups. The pitty, OTOH, would lay down on the floor and *beg* the pups to crawl all over him, "abusing" him. Now the male York (all 6# of him!) thinks he's the Alpha dog. And he is, at least until the 3.5# female York decides to exercise *her* choices . In my case, the larger dogs were all sweethearts. The pups were cradled and cuddled, licked soaking wet. I had no problems whatsoever. If your Golden is as good as most of them, you should have no problem whatsoever. |

| Zoeybear and Baby Chloe LOVE my parent's Queensland Heeler. They never showed any fear of her. They stand on their hind legs so that they can lick her face. Thankfully, she is a gentle, patient girl and is really sweet with them. I think your baby will be fine.

| Thank you so much for sharing everyone! My golden is so sweet, she can be a bit hyper at times but she listens pretty well to me and I know if I tell her gentle she goes easy. I have children and she is very careful around them and super protective. I am very exicted for her to have a little brother! I think them not liking eachother is such a worry because she is like my baby and don't want any sibling rivalry, lol. |

| Alphy was 8 months old when I got him and I already had a golden. Alphy immediately took to her. She was his big girl love. If you took her out without Alphy he would sit on the back of the couch throw his head back and howl until she came back in. He slept curled into her tall the time and followed her everywhere. She was so good and gentle with him. She passed this past January, I thought he was going to die from a broken heart. Now he's just got this pesky little yorkie brother to deal with. LOL I wouldn't worry about it really, I'm sure he'll love the Golden just fine. If not, send him my way.

| I have a very spastic 80 pound lap dog of a yellow lab named Bridget. When I brought Bella home, Bella was very submissive to her. Bridget growled at her constantly for probably the first 6 months we had Bella. Never snipped at her or got really mean. I think she was just trying to tell her how it was, and Bridget is a very jealous girl. Bella, eventually, took over the house. And as much as Bridget tries to pretend she doesn't like Bella, I catch them sleeping together, nuzzling each other and Bridget always gives up her toys to Bella. Bella adores Bridget and is always very upset when we have to take Bridget somewhere and Bella doesn't go with. She cries until her sister returns.

| Archie has two 60-pound Golden "girlfriends," the dogs of my friends, a couple. Archie stayed with my friends for a week when I was away on vacation and they got along famously. They are not allowed to play together, really, because of the size difference, but they co-exist together quite well.

| We have a Golden Retriever and 2 Yorkies. Misty, the Golden is so gentle and sweet. Daisy doesn't like her, but I think it's because she's afraid of her. She nips at her butt! Misty just kind of ignores her when she does it, like a fly nipped at her or something. Abby on the other hand loves Misty! The difference is, Abby has been around her since she was 10 weeks old and Daisy was 2 yrs old when she first met Misty. When our little Peanut was still alive, he and Misty played together all the time. The only problem I had was I had to bathe Peanut everytime they played because Misty would slime him! Peanut would follow Misty to the ends of the earth and I think Abby would too. I think your babies will be fine Goldens are great, aren't they?

| I was worried about the same thing . I have a 2 yr old German shepherd named Karma who took to Wiz like he was the puppy she never had . My vet told me once that dogs do not know how big or small they are ..if they have a pedigree a mile long or born in a gutter . They just are .. from my experience , I can say that if your big dog is a gentle soul like my Karma , there should be no problem . |

| I don't have a Golden, but a have a few Skye Terriers who are big dogs on short legs They love my Yorkies to bits, have done from them being tiny puppies. They all play together, which can get quite boisterous, but it's always the Yorkies who are the ringleaders. If you know Skyes, you'll know they're very long & low so they often sleep curled round. When they do, there'll usually be one of my Yorkies snuggled down in the middle of the hairy circle made by their body. xx Meggie |
