| I live 30 minutes from my parents and they see eachother once or twice a week... they play and never stop! It's awesome! I'll try the alarm clock with hot water. Last night there was a thunderstorm and he was scared so i layed down on the couch with him and he parked himself on my neck and slept there, I wonder if it's cause he could hear/feel my heartbeat hehe! | Hi, there is plenty of good advice here... hopefully something here will be to your style. It is a good idea to have the crate near you when you are at home, put a treat inside the crate, so the pup can go look for it, and gets the picture that the crate is a nice place, play a little fetch, put the toy in the crate have your little one go get it out of the crate. Maybe even put the food bowl in the crate to encourage going in and out of the crate. If the crying persists when you are gone to work, maybe the little pup would be happier in an exercise pen, I would put a heavy clear plastic (sold at fabric stores) on the floor wider than the xpen, place the xpen over the plastic (to protect floors), put a washable pipi pad in the xpen with a bed across from it, a water bowl, toys, give it time to get used to that, by putting him in for short periods at a time, increase the time gradually. I wish you luck.

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Put a shirt you wore in the kennel that smells like you, maybe he won't get so lonely. I had a Bichon once that cried every night. Out of desperation we put her kennel in a dark room. She became so quiet we worried, we checked and she was sleeping. I called the breeder and asked her if she had the pups in a room with a night light or total darkness at night. She said the room was dark unless the headlights of a car hit the window. That made sense, the dog was used to sleeping in a dark room and didn't like the night light I had. So from then on out she slept in a dark room and we never heard a peep. |

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey was 12 weeks old when we got him, but when he cried, I held him, and he stopped crying. I would carry him around the house in one of those bags slung over my shoulder, if I had to do work. When I was at the computer he was on my lap, and I didn't respond much to threads the first 6 months after I got him, it was too hard to type. He out grew it. I'm not sure I would recommend the way I did it, but I could not bear to hear him cry. Never punish for crying, the best way is probably to see why they are crying, fix what you can, and than ignor the crying.

| Lots of good advice given already. I've always left a radio playing for my little guy and he knows that when I turn the radio on now, that's the signal that I'm going out and he crawls into his little bed and waits for me to leave. Whatever you do, make sure that his bed/crate is a safe and comforting place for him. Never use it to punish a dog. Only give him love, praise and treats when he's in his bed. Best of luck to you and your furbaby. |

| I just have to ask... Why did you growl and spray water at him? He is a baby and just needs to be held and loved.

| When I lived with my parents, we had 2 yorkies and we use to growl at them and they would understand, but I figure that he is way to young to understand. I've never growled at him ever since. The water would work when the dogs barked alot, but Jamee doesn't care about the water lol! |

| I think he just needs time. Many times the first few weeks are hard because the puppy is adjusting to his new home...its hard for us to hear them cry, but if your pup has everything they need its best to leave them for short periods of time gradually extending that time. I know a lot of people like pups to always be with them but you also have to teach them it will be okay when you are gone. Many pups have anxiety because they aren't comfortable being alone, if you do it gradually they will be just fine. Remember it takes time and they are just pups and need reassurance.
