Hi everyone!
I wanted to thank you all for replying, i am relieved that many of you had the same issue and that the crying is very common! He has everything he needs in his pen and as many of you said, you just need to give it some time! Thanks again and have a yorkieful day :-)

Yes sometimes after getting a new puppy you say what have I done but very quickly you wonder how you lived without them. I have never had one that didn't settle down pretty quickly.

Yorkies and all small puppies respond best to praise and reward. As the other posters said do not use the spray bottle or growling. I agree with keeping puppies at the breeders until they are 12 weeks old, but since the puppy is with you now I hope things have settled for you. There are lots of folks here to assist you. Enjoy your new puppy.

Sorry to hear your baby is having a problem adjusting...you got some great ideas here..for me my breeder had me sleep with a receiving blanket for a week and then I took it to her and she had Nathan cuddle up in it...when i brought him home with the blanket he snuggled right up with it and we had no problem with him crying at night etc. He fortunately was a good baby..back in the day we did the waterbottle wrapped in a blanket with a clock under it!!!

That worked great too!! Wish you the best and I am sure he will calm down soon just cuddle and hug him to death!!! he will be fine!!

Thanks for your advice...I just had a quick question, it's the second time people mention a clock... Is it because of the noise? If so, what does it do? Thank you!!!

I would never spray him with water or show him negative behavior. My Krissie is 16 weeks old. I got her when she was 12 weeks and she has always loved to sleep on my pajamas or a shirt that I have worn. She wants to smell me close to her. Also, I would suggest small stuffed animal. They have the ones that you can microwave and they can warm the body. It may not have been ready to leave it's mother. Good Luck and God bless,

the ticking of the clock sounds like their mom's or litter mate's heartbeat and it is comforting to them so they dont feel so lonley and unwanted.

He needs warmth and comfort right now. Imagine how you would feel if you were stripped from your envronment and thrown into a strange place. there are many things that will help to comfort him. An no worries you will pick up on his needs and wants. It will all get better.

Your puppy is just feeling insecure right now. it happens with all new puppies when they are taken out of their environment. I have just had my puppy for 3 weeks today and can tell you that she has cried and still is not completely trained. I bought her in the Midwest and brought her back to Florida. The first night in Indiana she cried for a short time and then fell asleep. She woke up in the middle of the night and screeched. I put her pen close to my bed and kept touching her once in a while and then she fell asleep again. The next day, I asked my 95 year old father (I was visiting) to find me a wind up alarm clock and he did. After I started winding up the clock, my puppy started to be happier in the cage so brought the clock back with me. I still keep winding it so it is ticking all the time sitting next to her cage. Can tell it makes a difference.

Believe me when I tell you she will get better. Just keep the faith! I do agree that water being sprayed on her can cause problems later on so wouldn't do that!

you have received lots of good advice. Puppies respond best to love not to negative forces. How long are you leaving your puppy for? He is so young he can't go long without interaction - this is stressful for him

I've had my puppy for 10 days now! His nights are awesome, he wakes me up at around 5am to do his business and i bring him back in his cage and he sleeps till I wake up for good! Thanks!

Please only give him positive reinforcement. Don't spray him with water or growl at him! I'm sure that is very scary for one so young. He's missing his Mama and littermates. Imagine being taken from the only home you've ever known, put in a cage and then growled at and squirted with water when you cry

Poor Baby. He just needs lots of love and comfort, so he'll feel secure.

Spend as much time as possible with him, hold him and make sure he knows he is loved and safe.

Abby lived with us for several weeks before she was ever left alone and even then, she had her big Sis, Daisy to stay with her. She was probably 4 months old by then. I couldn't have left her at such a young age. The first time we left her, we took her to my Mother in law's house to stay while went out to dinner.

I hope it continues to get better....

Thanks for the encouragment! Believe it or not, my parents got Jamee's sister so whenever I go see them, i bring him and he's soooooooooooo happy to see her. I wonder if that may be confusing him when we come back home?

Put an alarm clock that ticks and Hot Water Bottle (Warm) under a blanket, he missed his mother and liiter mates.
Crate him at night beside your bed and when he cries put your finger through the bars and reassure him he's not alone, also tell him it's bedtime.
It worked for our puppy. Soon you will be able to leave the door open on the crate.
