If we all went out tomorrow and stole every dog that we found that wasn't treated just right, it would be anarchy.

| I really want to hear what happened to the dog that is left outside. There's no sense in arguing about this, it won't change the outcome. The person will hopefully do the right thing...whatever that is. I just hope the little yorkie will be taken inside.

| OK I am back! No I haven't been arrested. Yet! Last night the power was out and I was posting using what battery life I had on my laptop and using my Blackberry for my internet connection. My laptop battery ran out and we did not have power until this morning. Then I had to go to work and never had time to post. Anyway I am sorry to keep everyone waiting and man I can't believe all the responses. I did take that walk and I have to say that I did not see the Yorkie outside this time. Maybe they had enough sense to bring it in during the storm. I did however see it tied up on my way home tonight afer 9:00 pm. Since it was not out last night I think I really need to keep a close eye out and see how often it is on that line. I am thinking about going up there in a few minutes too see if it is still there. I am still torn on what to do. Like a couple of people said, if I confront the owner I'm sure they would tell me to mind my own bee's wax so that is really not an option. I have a son and I can't stand it when somebody tries to tell me how to raise him. I also don't think that much will come out of having animal control look into the issue because the dog does have shelter and what I assume is food and water. I did fail to mention that it is under some tees and has some shade so that helps. I know deep down that this dog does not belong outside for as long and as much as it is. I put my Yorkie on one of those corkscrew stakes for a half hour or so when I am outside working in the yard or washing the car but I am constantly checking on him even though he is in plain sight. Just like I did when my son was young. For some reason just like yesterday I noticed the dog going back and forth in kind of a figure eight tonight. I don't know if that is some sort of hyper or nervous action. That does look odd and worries me. I do feel a little bit better that I did not see it out there last night. I feel like I really need to monitor it a little more before making a decision. I want to tell my wife about it and she has never seen it because she does not go the same way I do from the house but she is so soft hearted it will make her cry for days. I'm all alone on this one so that's why I came here to find some help. I will keep everyone updated. Once again thank you to everyone for the response. You have found a new member and I am going to tell my wife about this site. |

I would definitely monitor the dogs behavior a bit more and see what continues on with that. I do worry about the figure eight activity that he has going on. If things do continue to stay the same and the dog continues with such behavior, I would consider calling the Animal Control and just ask their opinion on if a dog was having that behavior without neccessarily giving away any information on the specific dog, if you do not feel comfortable doing so.

| If I were in your shoes I would simply walk over to talk to the people and mention that you have seen the puppy outside a good bit and was wondering if they would be willing to give the dog to you or even sell him seeing how you are such a yorkie lover. Dont be mean or judgmental, just tell them how you have been looking for another puppy and you would love to have that one. I dont know about there but here Dusty goes potty and in about two mins he has had enough of the heat.

| It is so heartbreaking to see how some people abuse these little dogs. I just cannot understand why they get them if they are going to treat them that way!

| Well I have some encouraging news. I did not see the dog on the line on my way to work this morning or on my way home. Maybe I have been overreacting a bit or maybe I am just paying more attention to the situation and it's not as bad as I thought but I still don't feel great about it. I still have seen it out in the hottest part of the day on that line. I know you can't leave them out long and I only let mine out for a few minutes when it is hot because he starts panting pretty quick and he wants to come in. I will continue to keep an eye on the situation and give some updates later. If anything maybe I can call animal control and get them to visit them and if anything maybe that will encourage them to keep the dog inside more on hot days. As for the poster that joked about keeping my son on the corkscrew stake? He's 19 years old and that is really not a bad idea! |
