| groomer cut off HUGE CHUNK off of my yorkie!! what do i do?!? lawsuit? okay.. so i took snickers in for a groom like i usually always do. i've been going to the same groomer for about 3 years now, they have always done a good job..and they usually finish him up in about an hour... but this time when i took him in, they didnt call me back to come and get him until 3 hours later!! i didnt think anything of it..i thought maybe they were just busy or something. but anyways.. on with my story. so i went back to the groomers and they gave me back snickers..he was happy and chipper like he always is when he see's me.. he was kissing me and licking my face.. he seemed normal.* so i paid them and i left.. we went into the car and i drove away.. i was driving for about 10 mins..when all of the sudden.. snicker's ear starts bleeding like crazy!! and i'm not talking about just blood..but i'm talking about DROPLETS OF BLOOD.. it was GUSHING OUT. i was freaking out!! it got all over my car and my clothes.. i was panicking..i thought he was really hurt... it scared me! i held his ear with some napkins..but it just kept coming out.. i was SOOO ANGRY! the groomers let me walk out of the door without telling me of the accident!! i mean i wouldnt be as angry if they would've told me before i left..and paid..so i took snickers back to the groomers and i showed them what they did! they were apologizing to me.. and blah blah "oh its just a cut..like when you cut your lip..theres so many vessels there.. i mean it doesnt needs stiches or anything..." at the time i thought it was just a little cut.. i didnt want to touch his ear..because i didnt want to hurt him..they offered to pay for his vet bill..but i did not realize how serious it was.becasue they had reassured me that it was "just a cut" so they gave me a refund.. and i told them if it had gotten any worse.. i would take him to the vet.. so i come home..and i just think "its just a cut" its not anything serious..i mean he isnt hurt or anything..UNTIL LAST NIGHT.. i looked at his ear again..closer.. and realized that about a half of an inch of his outer EAR is MISSING. like CUT OFF.. A CHUNK IS MISSING. everyone is telling me that i should sue them.. i am very very hurt.and angry..my little babie's ear is cut..and i know he was in a lot of pain..and was probably crying.. i cut his toe nails and he cries.. this was a big chunk of tissue.. and i'm pretty sure it was really painful..i feel awful... this is my baby!! i mean you would be pretty angry too! i dont know what to do, i'm thinking that maybei should SUE them, because they didnt even have the nerve to tell me before i left until i came back with blood all over my clothes... does anyone have any thoughts on this?!? or what i should do.. or if i do sue them..how and how amd i supposed to go about this?!?!i am very hurt by this... i know people may think i'm being too emotional about this... but its just like me losing a chunk of my ear.. and he's my baby..i feel very awful about it.. and he was being so brave about it.. i know he's in pain..ears have a lot of nerves... | Have you had him seen by a vet? I think I would do that before considering the possibility of a lawsuit....

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I would take h im to the vet and if they can verify a chunk of ear is missing I'm sure you could sue the groomer if that is what you want to do. I would make then pay the vet bills for sure. This is why I do my own grooming you really can't trust anyone...

| OMG!!!!!! I cannot believe your story!!! I'm soo sorry to hear what those horrible people did to your baby!!!! You DEFINETELY need to take your baby to the Vet ASAP!!!! You need to make sure that it does not get infected! Nexr, YES they need to pay for ALL Vet bills and just warn people about that place. I will also look into suing depending how serious is your baby's cut. Please keep us posted on how your baby is doing. |

| OMG , You were way nicer than I would have been! I can not believe that as a groomer you have been using for soo many years and they injur him soooo severly and say nothing. Did they have someone new working there? Did you call them back and tell them that it was NOT just a little cut that a huge chunk was missing out of his ear? I dont know what the process would be, but I would say first you would have to take him to the vet to have it assesed as to have proof how the injury occured. I will keep your baby in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted to how things turn out.

| I would definitely look into suing them. They tried to get away with this. They have no right working with live animals. How many other times has this happened and they've gotten away with it. I hope your baby gets better real soon Chunk's mom A righteous man regards the life of his animal... Proverbs 12:10 |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Oh, I'm so sorry this happened, I'll bet your still in shock. I don't know what I would do, I think perhaps I would go to the vet, and let him document everything, I'm sure the groomer would be more than willing to pay for this, but I would seriously consider suing, but some people say it's hard to get anything back if you can't show damages. For example, he's a stud or a show dog, and looks are important. One person posted that since dog's are considered property you can't get anything back for pain and suffering. I think I would ask the vet how typical this sort of injury is, is it just an accident or gross negligence? I don't think you are being too emotional, that's the first rule in grooming, they should always tell you if something goes wrong. It just makes you wonder how long they held him there, waiting for the bleeding to stop.

| I'm sorry that your little on had to hurt. I hope the wound heals ok. I realize your angry and it should not have happened, but sometimes Sh** happens. Americans are sue happy and there are too many frivolous lawsuits in this country. Law suits don't undo the damage or bring back a life. and for those who say "it's not the money." It's the money. You got your money back they offered to pay the vet bill. they said they were sorry. Not much more they can do. Like I said sometimes Sh** happens and there is no one to blame. |

| cut You can sue for vet bills and perhaps the return of the grooming fee..but the law does not recognize pain and suffering when it comes to a dog...if he was a show dog and it prevented him from a ring career, you can sue for the cost of the dog..not future stud earnings of a show dog, but the devaluation of him as a ring dog. I groomed for many years..the best way to handle the situation is to always tell the client what happened, accept no grooming fee and pay the vet bills if there are any...dogs move, groomers make mistakes, but you have to be honest about it.. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Sometimes lawsuits are the only way to get a business attention. They should have informed her of the accident. You may want to post a review in this section: Yorkie Grooming Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community
