You can sue for vet bills and perhaps the return of the grooming fee..but the law does not recognize pain and suffering when it comes to a dog...if he was a show dog and it prevented him from a ring career, you can sue for the cost of the dog..not future stud earnings of a show dog, but the devaluation of him as a ring dog.

I groomed for many years..the best way to handle the situation is to always tell the client what happened, accept no grooming fee and pay the vet bills if there are any...dogs move, groomers make mistakes, but you have to be honest about it..
