| I muzzle my yorkie for 10 hours a day I work from home and cannot have my yorkie barking if I am on the phone with a customer. Is it safe to keep a yorkie muzzled for 10 hours a day??? |

| lol.. true... Layla doesn't bark. She goes to work with my parents where barking is not an issue. You have to teach her NOT to bark... alternatively.. get a cat. layorkiemom is right.. DOGS BARK.. it's what they do... and if she has a muzzle on 10 hours a day how is she drinking... or eating? or telling you she needs to go out... or if something is wrong. I personally think it is wrong. You are limiting her play time as well. How can she chew on her toys? If it isn't working for you having her at your house. i'd consider getting a trainer or rehoming her. you aren' being fair to her. |

| NO!! It is UNSAFE to have a dog muzzled for so long. It is also unsafe to have a dog muzzled UNSUPERVISED!! The longest a dog should be muzzled is 20 MINUTES!! At Petsmart we are NOT ALLOWED to groom a dog if we would need to have it muzzled for a TOTAL of 20 minutes (even with breaks); it will be sent home. |

| Does your dog have a name? Why won't you just teach him/her not to bark? |

| Are you for real? Why you even ask this question here? You should had done your homework before getting into a dog, he dosent deserve to be in a muzzle for that long period of time...If your clients are more important and your dog is not behaving maybe you should try to train him if you dont have the time maybe you should consider offering him to a more deserving home where is to be the dog he is! Excessive restraint becomes a test of wills and you will find dogs to be stubborn and not give up. The more you attempt to restrain them, the harder they resist and the less pleasant and more dangerous the experience becomes for all. Best of Luck to the puppy!

| The only time that my two dogs bark are when they aren't getting enough attention or there's a squirrel outside. Can you take small breaks throughout the day to play?

| You're not exactly living up to your name 'yorklover'. What you're doing is considered animal cruelty. |

| I can't help noticeing that in each of your post's your calling your little one an "it". I'm not sure if your for real or just trying to create something here. Common sense should tell you how wrong muzzing your dog just to keep it from barking is. |

| Cant he be put in a room that is far enough away from where you are calling customers, so that if he does bark, he either will not be heard, or will not interfere with the call? Bark collars would be a better option than muzzling for 10 hours a day! Some can spray a citronella mist or some emit a small electrical charge when the dog begins to bark.....eventually the dog learns not to bark.

| Adding to your question: I strongly suggest you do not leave a muzzle on your dog for any length of time. They are for aggressive dogs that pose a danger of biting and NOT for dogs that bark. Believe it or not -- dogs can bark through muzzles. A proper muzzle will prevent a dog from biting. therefore they still have the ability to bark just as loudly as they would when they are not wearing one. You need to get to get to the route cause of your dogs barking problem. Although some dogs bark because they like the sound of their own voice, most bark for a reason. The most common reason dogs bark is through boredom. Barking is a dogs way of amusing itself when it is bored or lonely. You might want to take a closer look at your dogs exercise regime and how much quality time you spend with him. As long as your dog isn't doing the excessive barking during "quiet hours" (generally between 7 am and 9 pm) your CLIENTS can just suck it up. It's a dog, it's going to bark sometimes! Let that poor puppy be and please refer to him by his name and not "it" SPEND SOME TIME WITH HIM!
